While the majority of idealists are insane, the few that are geniuses will rule the many down-to-earth realists that will sheep their ideas.

I do believe in idealism; dreaming / inspiration / ideating is where it begins. It's when the idea (insert gov't program) has been proven not workable that you have to acknowledge reality, something many in government don't want to do.

Side: Academic / Idealis

Reality always reigns supreme; it cannot be ignored.

I agree that practice is what going to answer the important questions. However, the fact that practice cannot be ignored cannot be a convincing argument. Academics cannot be ignored either. For example, its dangerous to run a continuous current motor when you don't know how it theoretically works.

Realists always have to clear up the mess made by idealists.

Once a nation is forced to come out of an idealist induced state of denial and vote in the realists the mess is cleared up.

Then the fickle public will once again start to believe that there there really is something nothing, vote in the idealists and the whole sorry saga begins all over again.

A perfect example would be Detroit. The left decimated that city and conservatives are the ones cleaning it up.

I agree that reality rules. But I also want to point out all of life is really about balance and this is another example where you need some of each category. Simplifying this vote down to an either or - mutually exlusive - selection is itself not reflective of realism.
