Acting your age...

I admit, I don't always act my age. I talk to myself, dance around my room, sing in the shower, ask stupid questions and paint my nails crazy colors. I can't sit still for longer than a few seconds. I have the attention span of a goldfish on speed. I'm usually late, I never have any money. I talk too fast, too loud, too high, too much. I eat hardly anything and have energy in endless supply. I watch way too many movies and know too much crap; I'm ditsy, I'm lazy and I'm scared of everything.

But I learned it's better to accept the responsibility of your age than to never be trusted to do what you're capable of.

I remember when I was little, I pictured monsters to be big, gooey, with large teeth, and scary looking, and they were my biggest fear. But now when I picture monsters, I think of people who can't accept the truth, and adults that think I am naive just because I am still young. They are no longer my biggest fear though. My biggest fear nowadays is to make a choice, because sometimes you can pick the wrong one and you can't go back; and sometimes neither the choices are good. Choices can change your life, even for worse sometimes.

There's this one choice, though: either let people destroy you, or get up and fight. Because even if you're on the right track, you'll get run over if you just stand there.

By choice, I'd rather act my age, rather than come off as some ignorant child.

If onl;y we all did. not only does a grown man acting like a two year old look silly if they cared about themselves they would never act that way.

Side: act your age man

I think that acting one's age is overrated many times. What's wrong with an older person jumping through the water hose that's cooling the kids off? What's wrong with an older person having fun with the teens who are rapping with the music at the boring family bar-b-que? What's wrong with a young kid trying to act like her older sister from time to time? What's wrong with middle ages guy trying to skateboard even if he's never done it before? There nothing wrong with any of it! People forget to just have fun after they get to be a certain age. They truly believe others will see them as being childish or wishing they were young again! Think young, act young, look young and you'll never lose your best audience...people who have fun just being around you!

What is acting your age supposed to mean anyways? I think that when you act your age you are simply comforming to society's view on what is appropriate given the certain age. Acting mature is good and all if you are in situations where you either need to or just want to, but there is nothing wrong with goofing off every now and then. And, as someone who takes this matter seriously day-to-day, nothing bugs me more when those who have conformed, or THINK that they have conformed to society's thought process criticize me about being immature when maturity is not called for and then they act immature whenever they please and its okay because they are the conformists and no one cares what they do. This is a touchy subject and really should not be taken lightly. I believe that it is appropriate to act mature when you need to, but it's even more appropriate to let loose and relax when given the opportunity.

Acting your age is way overrated. While there are many circumstances where maturity and adult behavior is required (such as in formal office settings), I think everyone needs to let loose and be themselves as much as possible.

As George Bernard Shaw said, "Youth is a wonderful thing. What a crime to waste it on children."

overrated. mainly because old bitchy teachers sometimes have a different perception on how "acting your age" should be.

most teachers liked my humor... but some of them... i guess it was the metopause or something.

Some days I feel 13 and act 13. Some days I feel 78 and act 78. And then there are days I feel 44 and act 22. It all depends on the moment, circumstance, situation, and context.

I think it's more important to act alive than any particular age.
