Am I unreasonable for saying hard core metal is crap?
When I say I don't understand people who like hard core metal, people tell me that I'm being silly, that's a type of music too and I should let people listen to what they want.
But what if someone liked to eat shit.
Would it be unreasonable of me to express my feeling that I find it hard to understand why he eats shit? Of course, that could also be a type of food and I should let people eat what they want - but am I a bad person because I think it stupid? I mean for one reason it is terribly unhealthy to eat shit.

Not really. I'd say more uneducated than anything. Music is a complicated beast. There was a time when I was pretty sure country was the worst genre ever and every single piece of country music ever wrote was an atrocity. Most of it is. But. Not all of it. Same goes for pretty much every genre, too. Fuck, I've found some enjoyable dubstep. And let me tell you, that should shock you. There's so many genres and sub-genres of metal, though, that I really wouldn't know where to begin. And while I'm not going to insist you listen to heavy metal until you find something you like, I would suggest keeping an open mind. You might miss out on something you could really enjoy. I wouldn't say unreasonable. I myself find hardcore metal to be quite tasteless. I have often compared hardcore metal screamers to Satan relieving his bowels. The drums are his feet stomping in pain as he tries to push out the huge log. The guitar is just the melody that is put over a recording to all of the above. Infact, im going to make an animation to put this in perspective. I'll post it on new grounds. ^_^ this is actually going to be a fun project drawing satan on the toilet. hahahaa. 1

It's perfectly fair to have an opinion. I'm about on the same level as you, except I'm so objective that I can perfectly understand how someone can like Metal music. It's like those rules of the internet: "51. No matter what it is, it is somebody's fetish. No exceptions." When you think about it, there are so many people in the world, that someone's bound to like something that disgusts you. |
