A US Marine Corps veteran with suspected mental health issues killed 12 people in a busy bar in California, including a policeman, officials say.
The shooting began at 23:20 local time on Wednesday in Thousand Oaks about 40 miles (65km) north-west of Los Angeles.
At least 200 people were reportedly inside the Borderline Bar and Grill, which was hosting a student line-dancing night.
Police named the suspect as 28-year-old Ian David Long.

San Diego, the big city with the lowest murder rate in the U.S., still had 2.2 murders per 100,000 people, according to an analysis from USA Today. The gun culture was stronger in the past, yet mass shootings were rare. The difference is that people used to fill the hole with Jesus instead of mind and biology altering drugs. The past is proof that guns aren't the problem. The present is proof that secularism causes people to go to dark places. The argument is that we need more good guys with guns. We have WELL OVER 3,000,000 guns in America, most owned, hopefully, by "good guys". If we get to 6,000,000, one would think we'd REALLY be safe! Yep. I agree. Funny how that works. I lived through the "truck rack era. We didn't seem to have so much mental health problem. Maybe "racks" are good for you?? (I've seen a few that definitely WERE! ;-) Then there was the gun-on-the-hip time to consider. That was dumped as too dangerous, uncivilized and unnecessary. We lived MANY years after that (through the "rack years"), with "kinda normal" problems, "kinda normal" gun ownership. Assault weapons were largely unknown, except for the "Tommy Gun", which was illegal. We had pretty normal gun deaths. Now, here we are. Assault weapons up the ying-yang, automatic handguns with a LOT more firepower than the "trusty six-shooter" of the "hip era", and apparently, much more "mental health problem"?? Back to the math. Every time you see traumatized kids from a shooting, pause and think what an 18 year old soldier goes through. Those 18 year old soldiers are dumb enough to join the military and get shot for economic imperialism.
