America: Progressive or Conservative?
Simple debate: Are we, as a nation, coservative by nature or progressive by nature?
The Louisiana Purchase was progressive. The expansion of the United States was progressive. The Apollo missions and the shuttle program are progressive. Civil Rights is progressive. Our election of an African-American president is progressive. The tech boom was/is progressive.
However, our collective values compared to a few other countries are by and large conservative. Much of our population cringes at the mention of the F word. Many European and a few Asian countries openly show nudity on primetime television, we do not. We have a large number of religious people in this country that are conservative.

This is an extremely biased question. This suggests that to be Conservative is the exact opposite of being Progressive. Conserve: To preserve what we have now. Progress: To continue on a path. Isn't it, in fact, Conservative to be Progressive? What we have now is a Nation that is developing newer and better methods of doing w/e the fuck it wants. In order to preserve that development, we must progress. Liberals are just as guilty as Conservatives for limiting Progression. But the definitions of Conservative and Progressive do not conflict.
