Ancestry research- does it matter?

I did some research on the two clans I'm descended from- The Currie and Fergusson clans.

It was interesting, exciting, hilarious sad and slightly terrifying (I mean, one guy split some poor steward's head open with an axe and then wrote a poem about it) at the same time to learn about my anscestors. Has anyone else done the same, or have any opinions on the matter?

As dorky as it is, my ancestry, which I'm not going to publicly display, has actually made me a little prouder to be who I am. I mean, my blood's pretty muddied by now, but I'm related to some pretty swag individuals. While it doesn't really have any tangible effect on my life, it certainly has given a bit of a boost to the quality of it.

I found it hard to pick a side so I'll go with this one. I find It more of an interest. Since I would like to do it one day so that I actually know what my real dad looks like so if I see him I can avoid/punch him. But it would be very interesting to find out where I came from or if my ancestors did anything to be proud of.

I researched my ancestry a few months ago and discovered some interesting stuff. It was well worth the time.

Side: Yes

I think it can be quite interesting. You may never know you are related to until you look.

Side: Yes

Genetics are genetics, they do matter to a certain extent. However, people who are born stupid can become smart and people who are born weak can become strong and vise versa.

Side: Yes

I love finding out things about my family. Good to know what they went through and where I came from.

who gives a shit i mean really?

That was random just like you are.

Side: Yes

I don't think so. Not if you can't actually talk with the people themselves. It's not like you have some incurable disease, that actually does have a cure but the secret is hidden in your DNA but on a specific strand, that it would take to long to find naturally unless they knew which family member had the original cure and cross reference his known DNA to yours, or something.

Side: No

I like the mystery of the unknown. I always have the fear of finding out that an ancestor was a notorious criminal.
