Anime! (And the Like)
If you are not familiar with anime, it is a Japanese animated art form that has existed for a few decades or more now.
Yes, this is a frivolous debate, but why not? I've been getting into it in the recent years. I am guilty. So I'm interested in other views.

While love is a strong word, I definitely have a liking for good Manga and Anime, films like Akira, Appleseed, Ghost in the Shell are all classics, but there are so many more, I used to love Devil Man as a kid, but I can't find them now. I especially like how odd they become, this is prevalent through all Japanese art, there is a film called panpoko I think that has transforming Badgers that use their testicles as weapons. I love Japan any way, I've been to Toyko for two weeks, I loved it, I plan on going back for longer, I'd move there if my Wife would let me. Side: Love it! Because...

Dragon Ball Z open the world for me to anime. You could say ultimately, it was Toonami for doing that. The current anime that i love is Naruto. It makes me sad, happy, and it makes me laugh. I love drama in anime. The artwork is fantastic. Sometimes, it is purely amazing how the artwork looks. Side: Love it! Because...

Well, I can't say all, because there is a lot of REALLY crappy anime out there. However, the stuff that is "pretty good" (in comparison to other anime) is better than any American animations I've seen. I think supply and demand is a big part of it. Japanese people tend to enjoy stuff that is just too hard for me to ignore. American animation, often but not always, is pretty bland, in my opinion. Side: Love it! Because...

1. American cartoons don't always have a moral in them. Anime normally does. 2. Anime normally has better graphics (At least the 2010-2011 ones do). I think that anime artists are much better then American artists. Also... HOW DARE YOU LIKE AMERICAN CARTOONS! Grr... >.> Side: Love it! Because...

why exactly only creative persons, because you should have a good imagination to write and draw story which can touch the soul of readers. With imagination everything starts. All your ideas are created in your mind and come to you from it. Anime gives us a chance to create two dimensional story where we are gods and we can do everything, we can be a hero who want to save the world and that`s why hero tries to find power or you can be a bad character who wants only a power or only desire of revenge. You are law in this world and all characters there will be your puppets and you will be puppeteer. It is your chance to be free in your imaginary world. Real freedom which we cannot have in reality where all your dreams become real and it will all depend on your creativity and imagination which we know are unlimited. Creativity can express through the big and small things. And anime is a way of doing it. Side: Love it! Because...

From anime we can take lessons which we cannot take from life. Why you will ask me., From anime you are taught to honor and to be honest. Nowadays it is too hard to learn it ourselves but these cartoons teach us how to be good and right man. . It is not constant age to watch anime it means you can start at any time and it will be no difference what age you are. (Halsall, august 2004) But what is a reason they watch anime. According to them, people say that it is the only way of improving yourself in mentality. How do they improve? People always say that anime is useless cartoons but they do not understand the real meaning of them. Side: Love it! Because...
Let’s take one anime and point out everything that it will teach us. Nowadays one of the most popular animes is “Naruto”. What is it about? “He's about 12 when the series starts. And years ago, his village, his ninja village, the village hidden in the leaves, was attacked by a nine-tailed fox demon. And somehow the other ninja imprisoned that spirit within his body. So, he grew up an orphan, and rejected, and unloved. And he's a real kind of come-from-behind kid. He can be mischievous, he can even be obnoxious, but his heart is in the right place and he gives everything his all.”(Brand, Solomon JAN 26, 2009). In addition Naruto is a person who will do everything what he ever promised. It is his path of warrior. From this anime we can learn what real friendship is, how to be honest; he is a great example to those little kids who watch cartoons. In the story he became a good example not only for next generation, for his friends and enemies. All know him like a man who will never give up, who will never say stop to his improving. He calls it “way of ninja”. I told you about him because he is a good example of how anime can teach new generation of people. This anime teach us that you will win if you never give up your aims and go to your dreams. Yes of course all anime is not the same but their similarity is to teach people something good that can improve your mentality. Anime is not only for children, anime can teach adults too. There is more of them than American cartoons. I can pick which types I like and which I don't like. Better art (usually), more interesting characters (with a few boring/stupid exceptions), and, overall, have better story line. But, the main reason why I like anime is because I grew up with it, and I didn't grow out of it, like with cartoons. I like how there are anime for different age groups. There may be a small handful of cartoons for adults. Most of it is raunchy or just plain disgusting. I'm not going to give up what I love, just because I'm "too old" to have fun. Side: Love it! I wouldn't say I love it. I like it but not love it. I would rather watch a good movie than a good anime. But with that being said, there are some great series out there. I find the art style to be very interesting. Especially with the obsession with huge eyes considering anime was created by Asians. I'm sorry if that sounded racist. I have nothing against Asians. I'm just saying its a bit odd that a race of people who have very small eyes would make cartoon characters with freakishly huge eyes. Side: Love it! Because...

I do enjoy some anime, but I usually prefer to read the manga rather than watch the anime, especially if the anime is an adaptation. Adaptations often simplify and distort the storyline to absurdity. A lot of anime are also not animated particularly well - the characters look awkward as they move around. While it's true that there's also a lot of poorly drawn manga, it's been easier for me to find good manga than good anime. Side: Don't like it. 'Cause...

That's true. I rate a lot of anime music (and also video game music) among the best of modern popular music. More than once I've discovered a beautiful song, then traced it back to the anime it came from, then found the manga and read it :P It happened just a couple of weeks ago with Elfen Lied. Its theme song was divine. Voice acting... depends. A lot of anime voice acting sounds melodramatic to me, but some are really good. Side: Don't like it. 'Cause...

On the other hand there is a problem of damaging psychology of people. And one of the consequences of this problem is cosplay. It means you start to live life of any anime`s hero. You play the role and you cannot deny it. Many people think that it is not problem and make from it show like festivals or competition. But they do not think that every lie can become true if you will believe in it. This people waste their time in anime clubs has gaming in different heroes. (Brehm-Heeger, Conway, Vale; winter 2007) Sometimes society where we live, do not understand that it is serious problem which can damage psychology of this person. People start to believe that they can repeat this violence and it damage their psychology and they become crazy. But what does it mean crazy? They can start to believe in one thing, that they can kill people and nothing will happen. It becomes thoughts of maniac, who do not understand what he did or will do. It is a psychological problem which should be threatened. Side: Don't like it. 'Cause...
In other words, it's evil because the news implied that it is, yeah that's a perfectly reasonable line of thought.[/sarcasm] Seriously, this just like Columbine all over again. The news media is forced to face the fact that reporting actual news is not going to be very interesting for very long, so they created yet another boogey man. Every medium has gone through this, literature, music, speculative fiction, comic books, video games and look where they all are now, they've all become mainstream. Has civilization fallen apart. No. Has the Earth become a Mad Max style wasteland. No. It's all neophobia, you didn't grow up with it, so you don't like it. The fact is that all groups in society have people who go overboard, do you really believe no one's ever rioted over a sport, that no one's ever been murdered over a novel? Murder spans ALL groups in society, and as soon as idiots like you move out of the way, we will all be better off. Side: Love it! Because...
Another consequence of watching and reading anime is fanfic writing. Two words can explain you what it means “fan” and “fiction”. And add these two words and meaning will open to you. It is fan who writes fiction on his favorite anime. Nowadays it becomes popular to write fanfic. You will just take an idea from any anime and create your own story by using characters from anime. Nowadays it is a big problem. Death of people is very sad but death which they do by themselves is sadder. Because people do not understand what means life, they do not know price of life. And what about writers who write fan fictions, they lose their talents. “Hobb’s indictment made the standard charges against fan fiction, from intellectual theft to intellectual laziness” (Young, February 2007). Who are they after writing these stories – thieves? Or they are person without inspiration who do not use their talent to imagine something new? If you are writer you should not to thieve ideas, you will create your own world, your own opinion and your own characters. (Young, February 2007) Side: Don't like it. 'Cause...
Wow, you really really think fanfiction is a major problem with society? It's not theft, fans just write it for fun. It only qualifies as copyright infringement if you intend to make money off it. Also everything's been done, literally everthing. By the same logic you're using, I could sue you because I got to this site first. Side: Love it! Because...
