Apartment living or Home ownership

What are your thoughts on renting an apartment versus buying a home in 2016

I'm not making a defense for renting but i was under the wrong impress about trying to own a home because their is also a lot of money that goes into the up keep of a home. Neighbors that don't control their kids were at my house jumping over my gate until it barely stood up on it's own. Strangers visiting neighbors park in front of my house with car stereo going. Yes I did move Nothing changed just the faces. I never realized how much I could hate mowing my lawns it was like another unpaid job. Time is the enemy and now you have to replace the garage door rails if you still want to park inside. Pull out 2 weeds there will 5 more tomorrow.

Renting has it's problems to so here I am [ Who You Gonna Call? ]

Yeah, I understand all of those things. If you can tolerate the junk from the neighbors, and you didn't pay too much for your house, you should be able to sell it and get out of that neighborhood. There are a lot of people who are numb to the kind of problems you had there and they will buy your house. If you look out toward rural areas or small towns, you can find much more affordable and peaceful housing that what you get in larger population areas.

You moved out of the frying pan into the fire it sounds like. You just have to be careful and picky if you want to be in a neighborhood, you can go around knocking on doors and asking questions of the people who live there before you decide to buy. You will usually be able to find a peace loving person who will tell you the truth about the garbage going on in the neighborhood, and if they all say there is no garbage going on you know they are all in on the garbage and it's not a neighborhood you want to live in.

I was shocked when I first realized how cheap and how much better the housing is in small towns and rural areas, and in many cities you can find those towns and rural areas just a few miles outside of the main city limits. Whenever I lived in rented apartments when I was young, I had the same problems you are describing with neighbors on a smaller scale but with them being on the other side of my walls. I then bought my own house in the city, then moved two or three times in the city in other houses........always the same to varying degrees. It's our culture now that it is acceptable for people to be inconsiderate of their neighbors....thank atheism and evolution in the schools and on tv for that...but that's a side issue here.....

I was truly amazed and dumbfounded when I first saw how much better housing for the money is available if you get away from the larger cities....and people who say you get the same problems with neighbors no matter where you go are just plain wrong and don't know what they are talking about. Green Acres is indeed the place to be!!!!!

Buy your own home, if the world doesn't fall into chaos before you retire, it will give you security in your retirement.

If you can't afford to hire repair and maintenance, learn to do it yourself, it's not rocket science and you get personal satisfaction by learning and doing it.

Even if you get a shack in the country which you can afford and let it fall to pieces as you get older, the property will still have value and you will have security in it.......and there are plenty of those places available.

Yes I can agree with much of what you are saying. It's sad that people can't live their life in peace but have to deal with stranger's hangups thereby effecting the lives of even those near by.

renting is money out the window. Buy if you can, and you probably can buy one way or another/

I was a licensed realtor and have owned twenty houses mostly as rentals. I am not in business now, but still enjoy talking real estate like a sports fan likes to talk sports. I'm still knowlegeable enough on the subject that I can help with any basic questions of contract or financing.

Some people prefer renting so they have no maintenance responsibilities. They also don't care that the rent they pay is completely gone and they own nothing to show for it. It seems silly to me. Buy, maintain the house and your credit rating, and if you want a better location buy again. There are lots of programs to help first time home buyers.

And much more importantly, prepare to meet your God, be sure you are forgiven and on your way to Heaven. I'm more than happy to help in any of the things I've mentioned.

It was planned, orchestrated and predictable, and another similar and much larger event is in the pipeline for America. I made a lot of money in the booming market, and got out when the signs of the crash were clear.
