Didn't Jesus relax all the rules to get non believers to join Christianity? I think God wants people to follow Him more than He wants people to follow rules.

For sure. Everyone is welcome. Mary Magdalene was a prostitute and it wasn't even formally stated if she was a former prostitute.

At the same time however, he "raised the bar" on what is and isn't sexual immorality. He denounced divorce declaring that if you divorce and remarry you are committing adultery. He also said that just lusting after a woman is just as bad as adultery.

The apostle Paul, who is primarily responsible for accepting gentiles into the church said, "the sexually immoral shall not inherit the kingdom of heaven." He also instructed a church to essentially excommunicate someone who was sexually immoral.

The trademark sin of the city of Sodom was homosexuality.

You can chose to believe or not to believe. But what is the point of believing in a supposedly eternal God who apparently changes his opinions based on what is popular decade by decade? If you can discard one aspect of the Church's beliefs why not discard the rest as soon as they become inconvenient?

It is interesting how a couple years ago the same church voted on razor thin margins to allow gay pastors... Now they have a 50 point win to allow gay weddings... Looks a lot like the conservatives took off.

So, you follow Paul, not Jesus.

The trademark sin of the city of Sodom was homosexuality.

The trademark sin was angel rape.
