Are Natural Disasters Being Affected by Global Warming?

Natural disasters have grown more violent and frequent in recent years, and some researchers blame that global warming is the cause that is affecting natural disasters. However, other researchers argue that there hasn't been anything that claims global warming is the cause.

Analogy time! Natural disasters are a bit of a lottery right? Sure, you can predict their frequency over time and even perhaps the intensity, but rarely individual events. Global warming only makes the lottery an unfair one. Throw in a few 23 balls and you'll get more 23's in the lottery . Similarly, in a very, very simplified example, rising temperature (just like adding 23's) may create environments more susceptible to monsoons (having more 23's pop up in the draws).

global warming effects most natural disasters but not all of them. things like volcanic eruption have no effect in the field of global warming. but thing like tornado's and tsunamis are getting more frequent and more devastating.

Side: yes

I think so but not dramatically. There have been more hurricanes than usual and warmer temperatures have been experienced longer.

Global Warming currently? Possibly.

However, natural disasters have had periods of outright destruction and devastation without the assistance of a warming climate.

The idea that ending global warming will save us from destructive natural disasters is... naive.

I can't support my answer, but I know you can't blame global warming for natural disasters. They don't have anything to do with each other.

It's not a direct cause and effect, but certainly rising sea levels, evaporation rates and shifting warm/cold fronts do influence the rate of certain weather-related disasters.

You can't "blame" global warming on all natural disasters. Global warming can, however, be attributed to the causation of some and exacerbation of most atmospheric natural disasters, such as hurricanes. Obviously, whether or not an earthquake occurs has little, if any, to do with rising average global temperatures. But you can't generalise and say that all natural disasters are independent of rising average global temperatures.

Even with the hurricanes and tornadoes, there isn't definitive proof that global warming causing their frequency to increase.
