Being wealthy or smart have no link to each other and shouldnt be opposed.

One may be smart and not rich and vice versa.

Consequently there is no reason to chose between either one of them. The answer is based on personal assessment rather than on objectivity or fact.

Of course, Smart people are better. For how long will you even stay with your money, if you are not wise? People typically spend all their money unnecessarily.

Wealthy people have no a sense of humor, nor do they have any sense of understanding thinking. The brain does not even function properly for them.

AND THAT'S WHY SMART PEOPLE ARE BETTER!!!!!!!!!!

If we interpret the term, 'smart' as being highly adept at academic subjects then we must conclude that their ability is too restricted to ensure their survival in today's cut & thrust world of fierce competitive business.

Prosperous people usually amass their wealth through their ability to identify a successful business model and by formulating a strategy which will ensure a high level of profitability by setting realistic budgets and targets.

Such plans invariably involve the amalgamation of multiple skills and uniting them to form a structure which is focused on attaining budgeted objectives including sales and overheads.

The business visionary will make certain that his vision becomes a successful reality by delegating those best qualified to competently fulfill the various functions of the company.

Having clever mathematicians/accountants completing profit & loss accounts detailing all aspects of the company's expenses and overheads and exposing any IRREGULARITIES is vital.

Equally as vital are the sales and marketing executives, the production team, the technical staff, the quality control personnel, the clerical staff, the research & development boffins, health & safety officers and human resource personnel.

ALL THESE PEOPLE ARE SMART, BUT AS INDIVIDUALS THEY ARE PRETTY USELESS.

It's not until a VISIONARY WITH THE NECESSARY BUSINESS ACUMEN CEMENTS ALL THE SMART PEOPLE TOGETHER AND DIRECTS THEIR SKILLS TOWARDS A COMMON GOAL DO THEY REALIZE THE FULL POTENTIAL OF THEIR QUALIFICATIONS.

If we understand "smart/smartness" as "intelligence", one must remember that there are different ways to assess "intelligence" (there are emotional, logical "types" of intelligence etc).

Why define what it means to be academically "smart" within a business context? How is the business world related to "smartness" in general?

How are skills related to smartness? One can accumulate many skills yet have an average intelligence. and vice versa.

Finally, a "visionnary" is usually someone who is blessed with a different type of thinking abilities/intelligence.

Most of visionnaries or "genius" have different brain mechanisms which allow them to process information differently and to come up with different/original ways of resolving an issue, whether it is an organizational one (think about Escoffier for the cuisine world, or Ford) or an academic one (archimede etc).

So it all comes down to smartness or intelligence.

Hence, your comment validate the "smart people" side more than the "wealthy" people side.

The difference between a rich moron and a poor genius is that the poor genius is waiting for someone to recognize his potential and multitude of great ideas, while the rich moron got one or two decent ideas across the finish line.

Actions will always be better than ideas.

a genius hardly hopes for someone to recognize his great ideas. They are great. He is smart, this is a fact. He isnt asking for more.

I think you confuse yourself with pseudo smart wealthy-wannabes entrepreneurs dreaming to hit it big. Smart people/genius usually dont care for being wealthy.

Their ideas ARE the genius/smart people "actions": the action of thinking smart.

The wealth IS the realization of business endeavors. No link between them.

Side: Smart People

I don't know if they're better than smart people, but they are definitely better than poor people, hands down.

How is a wealthy person better than a poor person? Have you ever met a billionnaire?

The astute entrepreneur will have sufficient perception to recognize any approaching decline in the demand for his product or services and will sell his business when it has peaked, but before the onset of its downward trend.

A good set of accounts will always attract the wannabe tycoons.

Meanwhile the true business magnate will have moved on to increase his wealth by establishing an enterprise in a growing market which he will have identified through his ongoing research.

Being BIG in a BULLISH MARKET while closely monitoring and anticipating future trends does not guarantee success but it greatly increases the likelihood of continuing prosperity.

NOW, THAT'S SMART.
