Are art teachers, REAL teachers?

I think... wait, KNOW, that art is a form of self expression, and NOT what the teacher wants you to do! What's the point in doing something that you hate anyway...hmmmm?

Yes, why not!

Well, if they're teaching you about something, they're teachers.

Like, your Karate instructor is a teacher. Driver's Ed teachers are teachers.

If someone is teaching you hot to identify line structure or colors, or w/e, or art history, they're teaching, and that makes them teachers.

Fake teachers are people who call themselves teachers but do not teach you anything...

Precisely why art people are not teachers, art is something that is not taught. Friend of mine, great artist, nobody taught him a thing how to be a artist.

Art teachers teach children either about history or different art techniques.

They are not teaching the kids to be creative.

we need art teachers because without them who would open our minds to new projects! how would we get better at art? where would we get constructive criticism from someone who knows what they r talking about? so yes we need them

The method used in teaching art is much like the Socratic method of teaching in that both seek to ‘stimulate’ one’s own abilities. There may not be many objective facts unless you’re teaching art history, but there is much to learn, even for those who already show to have artistic ability.

An art teacher can have many tasks which help a student learn new things. They can teach a student how to read music, introduce new mediums of expression, show techniques on how to get a desired sound or brush stroke, give a history lesson on art during certain eras, teach students of the particular diction used in the art world so they call a brush a brush instead of a ‘stick with a fluffy end.’

management is also called art,, does it mean we should not be taught by teachers and stop pursuing courses like MBA.

indeed, art teachers are real teachers...

Errrm, of course they are. The term teacher can of course be defined in different ways but I personally think a teacher is simply someone who either works as a teacher or maybe someone who teaches you something like karate etc.. So an art teacher is a teacher and a real one too. Did you think art teachers were not real human beings and you only imagined them?

Of course they're real teachers, it just differs in what they're teaching. Sure, they force you to use certain techniques, but only so you can understand the intricacies of what goes into a piece, so you can break it down to use in your own art. It doesn't stifle your creativity - it helps you to bolster it, or at the very least give you confidence. A good example is perspective art, using horizon and vanishing points. Learning styles and applying them in your own way is definitely creative, and I doubt art teachers would even exist if that weren't the case.

Side: Yes, why not!

They studied Art and they are presenting different forms of Art to the classroom as well as biographies about famous artists.

Side: Yes, why not!

Well, my art teacher, doesn't teach us, she just shows us a video or powerpoint on the project, then expects us to do it from that.... she doesn't even help us.

Side: Yes, why not!

That is not teaching. All that you could do on your own without anyone's help, we have youtube and google... Teachers are supposed to show things themselves and explain while doing it, and help if a student gets into trouble with an assignment.

If all she does is show videos and powerpoints you should report her. And if things are running the way they should then that teacher will have to correct herself, or she will get fired.

But the problem is, I am the only one that is "man enough" to speak for everyone, you are the only person that likes her, so shut-up.

Art is really in the eye of the beholder, and art teachers are merely subjective, so no they are not real teachers, if you want to even call them that. WHAT MAKES THEM ALL NOBLE TO JUDGE ART?

In my experience, the art teachers I’ve had didn’t necessarily grade or ‘judge’ my work based on their own interpretation of it and whether or not it is actually art in their opinion, they based it on my acknowledgement and execution of whatever the lesson was on that week, such as light rendering, or value.

Art class should even HAVE a teacher ! Supervisor , sure ! But we are not being taught GOOD art if we are not allowed to draw , sculpt , make , etc , what we want . It should also be a pass-fail grade , because we are at least doing the work . Screw art teachers . They know nothing

no, i don't think they are. even though they teach us things, well consisting of art, they critique us on their own opinions. even though we think we did amazing, they are the ones to decide. i DO NOT like the art teacher we have. she yells at me when she thinks i use to much paint. she boat loads us with different projects, all at the end of the year. she doesn't like the ideas i come up with, so she says to change them, or i WILL get an F. so unfair.

its their job to critique us! okay?! and everyone has different opinions so even if we think we did awesome she may think different. if you think she is being unfair talk to her about it! i yell at people for using too much paint too! i don't like it being wasted! and other teachers bombard us with other projects at the end of the year too so do not single her out like that. you have to admit i have some good points here. and you will not get an F because of your ideas. if you think its a good idea talk to her about it! yes maybe you just need to go with what she thinks but you can always do your idea at home nobody can stop you so yeah i rest my case.

exactly. it's their opinion, which is not fair. they critique us on if they like it or not. even though it's their own opinion, their opinion is the only one going into it. i bet that if more people got into it, they would have way different opinions than her. with the bombarding, at least they gave us time, where she only gave us 2 days! also, i did talk to her about my ideas, and she said i had to change them, or i would get an F on it. also, i am HORRIBLE at art, so i prefer to only do it when i have to. and even that time is a pain in the butt.
