Are gays, pedophiles, sadists born that way?
It is commonly accepted that homosexuals are born that way. Does this also mean that pedophiles and sadists are too? It is interestinf to note that homosexuality has been declassified from the DSM but not pedophilia and sadism.

Good post from pakicetus. The experts all seem to agree that people are born with their sexual orientation which cannot be altered. So, gays will be gays and that's fine, providing they don't do what they do in the streets and frighten the horses. I have no doubt that paeodophiles are also born with their dangerous affliction which has caused so much misery and driven many innocent children to suicide. Most western governments lack the political courage and personal moral fibre to have these low lives isolated from the rest of society and/or have them castrated. As recent events in the U.K, have graphically illustrated the political hierarchy along with many other senior figures of the establishment are themselves paedophiles and spend a lot of their time, and taxpayers money covering up their despicable crimes against innocent and defenseless children. You will note that reference is seldom made to this group of scum bags by any of the political parties. I wonder why? I know nothing about sadism so would not feel qualified to comment. Side: Yes
Every human being is born with genetic dispositions which are engaged by environmental stimuli throughout their lives. This determines human sexuality in all its variations - homosexuality, pedophilia, sexual sadism, etc. I would not say everyone is "born that way" but they are disposed to become that way when exposed to certain stimuli. It does not strike me as particularly interesting that homosexuality has been declassified whereas the others have not, but maybe my cynicism just disposes me to expect repeated errors in a fallible diagnostic standard. P.S. Atrag, do you lot use the DSM over there or were you just Americanizing the debate? Do you not use the ICD? Genuinely curious; this has nothing to do with the debate. Side: Yes

Any given human attribute is a consequence of genetic dispositions that have either remained latent or been engaged by the appropriate environmental stimuli (i.e. experiences). This includes homosexuality as well as sadism and pedophilia; while they are distinct attributes they do ultimately result from the same genetic stimulation process. Even if your point were correct and these attributes develop at different points in a persons life, it would still remain true that they are all deterministic and not a consequence of free will choice. Finally, as something of a tangential side note: Both pedophilia and sexual sadism are generally considered to be forms of orientation as well. Oh, and sadism is not exclusively sexual either. Hogwash. Most homosexuals were molested as children by homosexual pedophiles. They were defiled in body and in mind, so they become dumbed down to the natural and healthy shame of the dirtiness of STD spreading degradations of one's body. They try to ease their shame by learning to enjoy the thing that made them feel dirty, until they no longer feel dirty about it and they want to kill you if you tell them the truth about the evil that fell on them and now controls them as they try to shove their perversion down everybody's throat and force them to bend over and say it's normal.....it's not normal. You remember this when you want to insult Catholic priests, who I never defend as I repeatedly say Catholic is not Christian no matter what they claim, any more than Mormon or Jehovah's Witness is Christian. Homosexuality is perversion of God's gift of sexuality which for us brings one man and one woman together so they become one flesh in marriage. Any other sexual expression is abuse of sexuality, and it all can be lumped together as PERVERSION: it's twisted and turn away from what God made it for. Side: Yes

No one in the entire world is born that way. It might be the influences when they were young or maybe someone that they looked up to were like that so they just followed in their footsteps. It ALL depends on choice. Whether you choose to be gay or not... whether you support something or not... YOU CHOOSE Side: No

All of them, at least in some cases, are formed by experience. Not all gays nor all pedophiles nor all sadists are born that way. That may be true about pedophiles/sadists (I have not done the research on it), but there is absolutely no legitimate evidence that homosexuality can come from experience. If there is, please provide. But my guess is that it is the same for pedophilia and sadism. All the evidence I have ever seen and through personal experience and experience of those I know, I have never seen anything that suggests that homosexuality can come from experience. If this evidence exists, show me. Side: Yes
An experience alone is inadequate to inducing any cognitive and/or behavioral attribute such as homosexuality, pedophilia, or sadism. They develop as a consequence of genetic dispositions which either remain latent over the course of one's life or become activated by experiences in one's life. This is why not everyone with the genetic coding associated with these attributes ends up manifesting them, and also why not everyone who has those experiences end up manifesting the attributes. There is some speculation still as to how complex this process might be (e.g. if repeated exposure to certain stimuli is necessary, the impact of epigenetics, etc.), but the general principle is fairly well established.
