Are homosexuals ( in general) bad people?
I want to hear what the good people of CreateDebate think! Not whether gay marriage should be legal, or whether it is a sin or not..
Just in your opinion, do you think ( in general) homosexuals are good people, or bad people?
And if you do any shitty Bible quoting, or any other quoting which has involved no actual work of your own, you shall be banned..! (No one in particular.. ;P )
So since there are homosexuals present in prison ALL homosexuals are bad people? Please elaborate on this logic you are using. I cannot see how this can be generalized to the homosexual population.
Why else would prisoners become homosexuals? It's because homosexuals are bad people, prisoners of their own obscenity.
Well.. It kind of is...
You didn't say some prisoners. You just said prisoners. Implying all homosexuals are bad, because they either all go to jail, or they all become homosexuals in jail. And from experience, it's not a choice, so one does not normally just 'become' a homosexual..
(P1)Homosexuals are in prison. (P2 implied)Prisoners are bad people. (C1)Therefore homosexuals are bad people.
P1, Sure, there are homosexuals in prison, and straight people as well, not to mention white people, black people and a whole slew of other people of other ethnicity.
P2, Prisoners are bad people...? By what measure do they all share that makes these people bad...them being in prison? Not only is that measure circular logic it also seems to be devoid of any reality where people can be imprisoned for a variety of things as well as being falsely imprisoned.
For instance being married to someone of a different race was prison worthy for a time in the US, were those who married outside of their perceived race and imprisoned for their marriage bad people? If you say they were bad people, was it because they were imprisoned or because of the act that led to them being imprisoned?
There is no shortage of stories of people imprisoned for crimes they did not commit. Some of the more horrid stories of this have the prisoners spending 20 plus years in prison. Were these people bad people when they were in prison as they were prisoners even though they were innocent of the crimes that put them in prison?
C1, Are the other examples of people in prison subjected to the same line of logic as homosexuals too? So I can conclude that you believe that blacks are bad people too since that ethnicity makes up a disproportionate population in the prison system?
Or maybe being a prisoner is just a terrible measure if someone is a bad person or not since you can go to prison for many things. These things that are prison worthy may or may not be considered moral but the measure that decides if prison is the answer is whether the act is against a law or not. The measure of a person being a prisoner equals that that person or group is a bad person/people is a terribly flawed metric.
In Russia people are sent to prison for being homosexual, being in prison for breaking an evil outdated law does not prove badness, ergo being in prison does not necessarily make you a bad person

What someone thinks is bad and what another thinks is bad, is completely subjective.
I happen to think that breaking any law, "outdated" or not, is a bad thing to do.
(Not really, but debates like this are just silly.:)
I don't think it's about maturity....what he's saying is that regardless of laws, people have different definitions of what "good" and "bad" ultimately are. Therefore, asking if homosexuals are bad is moot, because you're unlikely to get a definitive, objective answer overall. That's what he means when he talks about it being silly and that these types of things are subjective.
I'm nto trying to be a smart ass, and the debate has a pretty godo score so far, and has sparked up some good arguments on both sides. Ok, that was a lie, I fail to see much sense in the homophobic approach, but I like to consider them, because I'm open minded liek that ;)
You, still. You took my statement as an insult, then you tried to return the insult.

Oh my WORD sir! I did not get offended, nor insulted by your previous remarks. I may object to them, but that does in no way shape or form mean I am insulted by them.
And sure it's silly, hence my not being bothered to re-read what I wrote ( and also only having 00:40s left on my library time..!)
But I'm home now in the warm. Now, we all gonna play nice?!
Yeah I don't get offended, I mean what people say doesn't insult me. Just annoys me! That I will happily admit. You can say " No need to get annoyed" all you like and I won't dispute that.
That's what brought me to this site. Annoyance an people's ignorance and stupidity. That and Minekey closed down for reasons unbeknownst to me..
That is the right answer. But like I said, in general. More to do with homosexuality than homosexuals. This was meant to attract the homophobes of the site, so I could debate with them ;)
but you seem to have the right idea, so I'll let you be :P
This, you have said before. I am just saying, to generalise in saying that " all homosexuals are bad" without knowing all of them, and having an individual reason for all of them, is judging people because they fall under a particular catagorey. Which, in my books, in homophobia. but I'm just waiting to be proved wrong :P
technically, picking apart the word, yes homophobia is a fear of homosexuals. But it is commonly used to describe someone who is prejudiced against homosexuals.
I realise this, but not many people do. And even if you tell them, they'll just go back to their old ways. the good people of CreateDebate, form what I've seen ( many, many times) use it to mean someone prejudiced against homosexuals.
I am not disagreeing with you, just stating something.
To tell the truth most of the ones iv'e met are alot nicer than straight people. Not to say they are in general, just the ones I've met. Also I think that alot of gay people do actually go out of their way to be nicer than straight people to prove the exact point you brought up. Also I think they can be more understanding and less judgmental, based on the fact that they themselves are quite the subject of controversy.
In the words of Depeche Mode, "People are People". Whether they are gay, straight, theist, atheist, black or white, they are all just people and every sub-group within the human race has good people and bad people.
If a man also lie with mankind, as he lieth with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination: they shall surely be put to death; their blood shall be upon them.
Irrelevant, the coming of Jesus was meant to invalidate the old testament which was after all written not for gentiles but for the people of Israel (Jews) so unless you are Jewish any old testament quote is as I said irrelevant.
All the ones I've met seem like OK people till you piss em off then they seem to be able to unleash hell upon you that straight people can't, how I don't know, all I've learnt is they make great friends but stay on their good side!! But this doesn't make them bad people and I'm sure not all of them are nice like the ones I've met, like everyone in life i'm sure some are nice some are pricks
In general no I don't think so, most if the ones I know are very kind people. Of course there are some bad ones but I think the majority are very nice.
In the flawed sense of 'good' and 'bad', I don't think they're bad people. In the sense of 'good' and 'evil', I believe no human is truly good. But that's a different debate entirely.
I have not met a homosexual person that I ever thought was a bad person. Certainly no more or less than any heterosexual person. Therefore, I would say in general, no homosexuals are not bad people.
No they're fabuuuulooouusss. I don't think sexual preference dictates an individuals character, that's like asking if all straight people are all good...we all know the answer to that...Hell no.
The existence of this debate just shows the distance we have placed ourselves from them- to the point that we aren't being inclusive to them in a debate about them.
no they are not bad people'' they just make bad choices'' the choice that goes against what our creator warns against''' i Corinthians chapter 6 verse 9 ,10.. there are many arguments i know on the subject of homosexuals. ranging from genetic and so on..
think about this... humans are gods superior creation highly intelligent ,with the ability to discern right from wrong.make choices.
.the animals of the wild are expected to be just that ( wild ) unless they are trained to be ,and do things a certain way.. when was the last time you have see two male dogs, cats, horses, monkeys etc..in heat for one another.....
.just a thought.. it is just not natural... even the animals of the wild knows that ,there is something about that is '' just not right''....
The minimum argument length is 50 characters. The purpose of this restriction is to cut down on the amount of dumb jokes, so we can keep the quality of debate and discourse as high as possible.
This kinda sounds like false dichotomy or something. Everyone has "good" and "bad" qualities, but no one is purely one or the other. Before you can address any of those questions, you have to define what a "bad" person is. Murder? Thievery? Flamboyance? Is it being asked if they are a menace to society?
No, they are people. You can't judge someone based on things like who they love, what they believe, however, you CAN judge them based off of personal experience with them and deciding if they are a total jerk. But, just remember, if you judge people before meeting them, then you sir, are the bad person.
I agree with SplodieSploo completely! Homosexuals-- (Any and all sexual orientations whether it be gay, lesbian, straight, homosexual, etc.) --are people just as I am, just you are, and just as SplodieSploo is. Who cares if they are not straight? It's not our place to judge them for their sexual orientation! And if you do judge someone because of their sexual orientation, then yes you are a bad person--Someone I do not want to be friends with. Someone's sexual orientation is not enough to judge someone on if they are a bad person or not.
Homosexuals are not bad people. You may meet someone who is bad who is homosexual, but you could also meet a bad person who is christian. They aren't bad people. They are just human like everyone else.
