Are there still issues of gender inequality in society?
Do you think that there are still issues of gender inequality in society? Do you think that society treats you in a equal manner regardless of your gender? Do you think that there are still issues of female inferiority which still exists in society?
Yes. Especially in how our society views sexuality. Women who are overtly sexual are called whores and sluts and many other degrading names but men who do the exact same thing are either not bothered about it or raised to hero status. That is complete and utter bullshit. I am a man but I will be the first to say that woman have just as much a right to enjoy a full and healthy sex life as men do. Sadly, this is a very common behavior among women. Not only do men degrade women this way but other women do too!
Sure, there are numbers indicating there are still issues of this nature.
These numbers are inflated because many women choose to leave a job early, or focus on raising a family, while traditionallly men do not. On cannot force a woman to work instead of raise a family no matter how much some of the Women's Rights groups sometimes seem to wish they could. Unfortunately the women who freely choose to leave a job are thrown in with the same stats as those who may or may not have hit a "glass ceiling" so it is hard to say where the ceiling is, or if it is still there.
But there is nothing to indicate the numbers are completely bunk.
I would say it goes both ways though. I cannot for instance drop out of school at 18, buy some boobs, and make 80 plus k per year working in a Strip Club, so I have trouble shedding tears over women's right's at this point and place in history.
But if there is blatant discrimination in this regard, it is worth checking up on I suppose.

This is not false, but I want to mention that if women were not objectified, the strip club industry would not be nearly as lucrative as it is. Its profitability results, in part, from sexism.
Objectification is only a bad thing if the one being objectified objects.
More importantly though, it is not necessary that one objectify another person within their attraction to them.
Certainly the majority of ogling is objectification in a Strip club, but it is neither essential, nor in most instances unwelcome in that particular venue.
Now, if a female were to be objectified in the boardroom, that is obviously not the venue, and it is where negative sexism lies.
Some jobs are lucrative enough to prompt an employee allow or even encourage objectification. That does not mean objectification is not a symptom of a negative mindset, or that, as a gender, women would not be better off without it.
But I am not really trying to complain about objectification in a strip club setting, I just wanted to point that even the advantages of being a woman, like the example you gave, are in place because of sexism. Women are sent the message that their bodies are their most valuable asset.
I accept that premise. Do you think say, Ashton Kutcher or whatever is a good actor? Or do you think he is a celebrity as a result of objectification by females who think he's good looking?
Should there be instances where it is acceptable, and other instances where it should not be acceptable?
There are cases of men achieving varying degrees off success by being objectified, but for one, women are less visual so the market is much smaller, and additionally, far fewer women are in a position powerful enough for their objectification of males to really make a difference. Untalented male actors are good examples, though, as are the odd male strip club here an there.
I am in no position to tell another person that they should not make a living off of being objectified if that's what they want to do. I do admit to being somewhat uncomfortable with it. For women, it seems like a concession; they have a far smaller chance of succeeding off of merit alone, so succeeding by allowing/encouraging objectification becomes an attractive and more likely alternative.
Where they are forced is a better example of injustice than that it happens period. It is difficult to force for example, a male into human slavery, but it happens every day to even affluent and white females, forget how often to the poor and minorities.
There is where lies the problem, not at the top of the social and economic ladder I think.
My tag of "kind of" wasn't about whether it happens, it is about where the focus of where it is happening is.
I'm not concerned about a female CEO who thinks she should be a partner but for her ovaries, I'm concerned about those without power who have no say, and no voice in debates like this.
Also, I think that strippers, in a way, are actually objectifying men by taking advantage of the fact that they are so overtly sexual and prone to pay large amounts of money for sexual material and intercourse. Strippers are in control. All the do is take their clothes off and men spend their money just to look.
I'm not disputing because I recognize that there are now some areas of life where being a man is a disadvantage, like in court when child custody and alimony are being decided.
Feminism, the girl is gone. Who wants to date a guy when your a guy? Unless your one of them.
However, by this, do you mean that women who want equal treatment are inherently masculine? Accepting inferiority is a prerequisite to being feminine?

It's like comparing a bear and a horse... the bear is stronger (generally) but the horse is much more magnificent (generally)... both are different and have different roles... A horse could start catching fish if it put it's all into it... a horse could be carnivorous if it really wanted to... but that would not be the horses role nor would it be natural and vice versa for the bear.
In the same way woman and men have different roles... I think a lot of woman see mans role and their role and want to be in the former position... and quite a few have been pretty successful in imitating mans role... when they are not and never will be a man.
Conclusion
Woman is in no wise inferior, different, but not inferior.
I recognize that women and men generally have different areas of expertise, mentally and physically.
Accepting this in no way changes the fact that there are still issues of gender inequality in society, even though they are not as much of a problem as they used to be, and in fact we are seeing backlash, which is also not good.
It also is not really what I asking about. Thewayitis seems to be implying that feminism necessitates masculinity, and I have found this attitude prevalent in men who are insecure with assertive, intelligent women, and would prefer that they remain demure and subservient overall.
What I'm saying is that women are becoming less and less feminine. I don't want to date China from the WWE. The flop-side of this is that men are becoming more like women. Stay at home dads, secretaries, etc; for example. If I had to take a punch from a man or women today, I would choose for the guy to hit me. I wouldn't caring much of a punch. The Lady died and emerged some other creature.
I don't see a large number of women acting particularly masculine, unless being outspoken, intelligent, independent, career-minded, or assertive are traits that belong only to men. I am not saying that all women possess all these traits, just that these seem to be the ones that cause some women to be labeled masculine or unladylike. So, I don't think your perceptions are exactly accurate but even if i did I wouldn't think that was such a bad thing. The sexes will always be different but as sexism is recognized and dispelled they may come nearer to an equilibrium.
There will always be discrimination of one kind or another... I think that gender inequality... or discrimination would be a better word for it will always be an issue on both sides of the sexes in at least some cases.
yep! girls are considered less powerful(and they are sometimes) but when gender equality comes up, girls are discriminated visibly.
also many girls take advantage of this discrimination, and go ahead doing crimes trying to put up the blames on men. men, who are considered notorious(compared to women) are victims of many crimes committed by women.
There's really not much to say here, lol. Though now I almost feel as if it's a small 'box' of people discriminating against everyone else. Of course, the small group of people is all male. So yes, but in a different kind of 'yes' than the usual. :P
Nature is inequal which explains survival of the fittest while the inferiority is a perceived one that has led to a victim mentality which is misused to try and legislate equality which will never happen.
Yes, but it goes both ways, and I think it's much less severe than it has been. By inequality, I mean that stereotypes exist and are rarely challenged.
An effeminate guy will almost always be called 'gay' or a 'pussy' just for his personality.
Gender inequalities exist, but are actually now based on stereotypes for one gender rather than the idea that one gender is inferior to another.
I strongly agree! Gender equality is still happening throughout the worldπ. It is VERY disappointing. You would think the modern man would start to believe all people, female or male are equal! Me out.
Even in countries generally considered egalitarian, there are huge differences between the way women and men are treated. There has never even been a woman vice president, let alone woman president.
