I enjoyed the movie, it gave a mystical Ferngully like feel to the land without making it seem childish. I did not like it in 3D. I think it took away from the actual color of the film and it altered my focus too much. The message was distinct and strong, and one I agree with. - Overall it was a good movie, partly because it was a well needed break from the wornout plots of today's media. Side: best movie ever

Relax Siriusly. Whether I liked this movie or not is not objective, so there is nothing to debate. Or, are you egotistical enough to tell me I'm wrong in thinking I liked the movie? I doubt it =/ That comment gave you your second reward point. 2 points and your going to tell me you know more than me about how to make appropriate comments? =/ With all the other debates on this site, there's no reason to take this one in particular so "Siriusly". I thought it was a disappointment to see such amazing special effects go to waste on such a crappy story. The problem I have with these kind of anti-imperialist movies is that they portray the invaders as evil and greedy(which I have no problem with) while at the same time portraying the Indians as these peaceful beings who just want to connect to the world, which is simply bullshit. Now, there were Native American tribes that were peaceful but at the same time there were ones that were just as cruel and violent as the white men but had lesser weaponry. So this whole victimization by Hollywood is simply not true. Side: the movie sucked
an other thing i found disgusting about the movie is that the human turned and became a alien. that was the dumbest thing yet I've seen in a movie. not only are the humans evil, instead of the guy being a good human. he becomes a alien. and at the end when all the people cheered after the humans were sent off Pandora, i wanted to say "ARE U GETTING ME!??!? Pandora, the only hope for earth and humanity to live was to use the mineral to help save earth, and you guys cheer about the fact now that earth is screwed because some blue alien one?" thats what i thought at the ending of the movie. avatar was just an other furn gully type of movie with a humans are evil outlook. Side: the movie sucked
Another movie about how people trying to get rich are evil. I don't like seeing humans getting killed by stupid looking blue people. Do I think it's okay to kill off a race so that we can get a mineral that is worth a lot? No. But come on! why do the bad guys always have to be the ones seeking profit? Side: the movie sucked
"Why do the bad guys always have to be the ones seeking profit?" Because what kind of a bad guy gives his competitors/his henchmen/society a break? Seeking a profit inherently hurts someone in some way. Therefore, seeking massive amounts of profit at the cost of a world and culture=bad. Is that really that hard to understand? "I don't like seeing humans getting killed by stupid looking blue people." Why does it matter who's getting killed? If any sentient, intelligent life was being killed, I would immediately put them equals to humans. It's called racism when one puts an ethnic/social group under another because of how they look, behave, or believe. Side: best movie ever
"seeking massive amounts of profit at the cost of a world and culture=bad." I agree. I just don't like that people are trained to think profit is bad, associating it with killing for money. "Why does it matter who's getting killed? If any sentient, intelligent life was being killed, I would immediately put them equals to humans. It's called racism when one puts an ethnic/social group under another because of how they look, behave, or believe." 'sigh' If this movie was real life I would be all for leaving those blue people alone. But it's not. We're still preaching race guilt and 'money is bad' through our movies and it's old. Side: the movie sucked
I saw this coming, this is why I said: "Do I think it's okay to kill off a race so that we can get a mineral that is worth a lot? No." Maybe I, yet again wasn't clear enough. I'm just annoyed that the people trying to make profit are always the bad guys in movies. And just because you are trying to make profit doesn't mean you are being selfish. Side: the movie sucked

For a movie that prided itself on several "scientifically plausible" situations, there were a few gaping holes that I couldn't get past it. It explains the Avatar program as being a mixture of the genetic material of the human who controlled it and the Na'vi. They show the avatar bodies growing in vats. Later, the global "spirit" is explained as a bio-botanical neural network. These "scientifically plausible" explanations are unnecessary, and leave the rest of the movie's phenomena unexplainable. For example, they never explain the physics behind the floating mountains behind the sci-fi movie techno babble "flux fields". The most likely explanation would magnetism, but what natural phenomenon could possibly create a magnetic field strong enough to levitate whole mountains, and still allow metallic ships to fly through, with only some sensor interference. And is there really enough precipitation to actually sustain waterfalls? Really? I think not. Also. Unobtainium? Seriously? That's what you name the precious metal? And is it a new mineral, or a new element? What possible molecular structure could justify a price tag of 20 million dollars per kilogram? To be clear, I'm not saying the movie sucked because it was unrealistic. It's a science fiction movie, and I understand movies in that genre are very typically "unrealistic". The movie sucked because it cherry picked which parts it would "scientifically explain" and left gaping holes where they chose not to explain it. If you're going to try to make some parts of the movie scientifically plausible, then make the whole movie scientifically plausible. Side: the movie sucked
