I would say what takes the most blame is either the lack of police in black neighborhoods or the fact that the black-on-black homicide rate is significantly higher than the white-on-white homicide rate, or both.

He breaks down cultural factors in behavior, and offers valid criticism. It is rare that people look at their culture when trying to identify the sources of, and solutions for their communities problems.
A lot of what he breaks the crime problem down to is single parenthood, hyperviolent single Black mothers, prioritizing the wrong things, and bad social and physical hygiene.

The basic rules for having a successful and productive life are EXACTLY the same for everybody in the US.
- 1 - Get an education - show up at school on time every day, follow instructions, do the work/ homework, earn your diploma, do as much as you can to learn more than what is the minimum required. The inability to speak and write correct/standard English automatically cuts you off from valuable economic, educational, and social opportunities.
- 2 - Get a job - show up at work on time every day, follow instructions, do the work, do as much as you can to learn more than what is the minimum required for the job, and take on additional responsibilities when you can. Doing this correlates with economic success almost as consistently as graduating high school and getting a job.
- 3 - Don't become a parent outside of marriage - fulfill your responsibilities to your kids on time every time. This not only keeps you from getting stuck in poverty, but gives your kids a leg up in life.
98% of people who do these three things are not permanently poor.
- 4 - Obey the law - Prison, jail, fines, lawyers, are AT BEST interruptions and expensive drains on time and resources, and at worst permanently eliminate some opportunities and avenues of success.
- 5 - Don't whine about the past; learn from it - focus on the present and the future, and applying what you have learned.
- 6 - Don't give up - EVERYBODY has to deal with setbacks. The difference between failure and success is when you stop trying.

Hi Marcus , I had a look at the video and it makes for excellent viewing and I liked the searing honesty and personal accountability , I must look out for more of Sotomayor on line and he has a great interviewing style
He is well worth checking out (in my view, of course). Sotomayor is a black man in the USA who runs a YouTube channel primarily dedicated to analyzing the 'black community'/culture in the US. He is a strong critic of the culture in many respects, and overwhelmingly receives extreme backlash from the Black community for 'betrayal' and 'airing the communities "dirty laundry"'; as well as the typical death threats and such. Tommy has a lot of very interesting critiques as well as 'inside information' as he was raised in the community which he often shares. I find his perspective to be quite interesting & informative (in various respects)

The Adults are breathtakingly irresponsible and lead the young down the wrong path. For instance, they encourage the children to engage in sports such as Basketball as that is "they're only way out", as the claim goes. Now, the kids spend countless hours expending energy headed down this false pathway toward the 'promise land' while all one has to do in the US to 'make it out' is simply graduate High School, find a basic job in the suburbs (i.e. Grocery store, Wallmart, security, UPS, ect.) and this will provide the means to get an apartment in the corresponding location (i.e. out of the urban environment). Then, if one wants to make the Middle-class, all they would have to do is (A) learn a trade (B) get an Associates Degree (i.e. 2 year degree) at Community College (which is very inexpensive) for a practical field (C) go to College (4 year); also, it is important to note, the Government provides guaranteed loans to all US citizens to this end roughly $8,000-$12,000 per year up to nearly $60,000 cap. That is, the funding to achieve some financial, academic, living success is there (although I would like to see it increased a bit, for reasons I have discussed previously in separate posts elsewhere).
Personally, I lived with a close buddy after High School in an apartment where we split rent, I worked and attended Community College until I reached the point I could transfer out to University. Now, all one has to do is choose where they live to avoid bad areas--problem solved.
