CD is full of attackers and haters not wanting to debate?
Personally after looking at a few debates and arguments a lot of people on this site dont know what they are talking about and using opinions instead of facts or arguments. In addition, people resort to caps and profanity to prove they are correct. Furthermore, there are so many ad hominum attacks its not even funny any more... CD members need to actually debate instead of attacking one another.
Yes, I agree...but don't forget the motto "it starts with me"...so your debate title should be in the form of a question, not as statement. Thank you for your membership.
I have never seen anyone change anybody's mind in a debate. So I try not to debate. I try not to attack. I try to defuse the situation through humor. I am only interested in getting whatever idea happens to be in my head, at a given point in time, out there. ;)
You learn pretty quick who to take seriously and who to just drown out. There are some really great debaters in this site that I love chatting with, both for their ideas and to get mine across who are completely and fully capable of giving a good argument and understanding yours, without resorting to name calling and banning. Those are the ones you stay on this site for. :D And then there is Jolie. HAH She/He is fun.
This is true. And sadly it's quite unavoidable. Every debate website I've ever joined has a subsection of members who do that.
What is unique in the case of CreateDebate is those folks have control of the "ban" button, so they're even more brazen in here. It's kind of like going to a public place, like a movie theatre, and discovering there are a few loud arses up in the balcony shouting all the time and throwing stuff down on the crowd below because they know it's next to impossible for the crowd to throw back up to hit them back. And just like in the theatre the crowd keeps wondering when the usher will walk in and ask the trouble makers to leave but it just isn't going to happen, because the theatre management doesn't really want to confront them.
Grenache, it is true that givng the power of the BAN button to the debate moderator can cause more brazen activity, it was really designed for educators who have an open debate to be able to ban someone that is making undesireable arguments. We have been considering a "block" function, but that wouldn't stop someone from posting, it would just prevent you from seeing their arguments. The problem with that is you won't see any of the argument threads from the point that the blocked person posts an argument. This is the challenge, but I am open to suggestions.
Actually I do understand. None of the other debate sites I've been on found the magic bullet to deal with troublemakers, either. And I've come to accept the fact that button is not going away from CreateDebate.
But alas, since it is a debate website you're going to have to continue to hear me talk about those who abuse the ban button.
But anywhere I can comment I will still choose to do so. It's your right per design of this site to ban and it's my right per design of this site to debate.
By the way, in any other debate scenario where you did not have the ban button and you had an independent panel of judges you would systematically lose.
A panel of judges cannot overrule the truth. If they are like you and they hate the truth, of course they would vote me down for speaking the truth.
Why don't you just stop reading my posts and stop coming to my discussions/debates? You can't display manners adult enough to carry on a conversation with me so you're going to get banned. The last time I banned you it was triggered by you saying "what you are saying is......", putting words in my mouth implying I say and or do things I do not say or do, trying to hijack my discussion by changing it into an argument on why you feel justified to slander me and why I should defend myself against the lies you try to smear me with. Just stay out of my discussions and you won't have a problem. I'm not going to try to have a discussion with you regarding the title and OP when you can't focus on the topic and always have to try to turn it into character smearing against me. You're a punk who grew up in a sheltered environment where your peers would gang up and bully a person like me......here, you get thrown out of the class room and you never grew up enough to be able to handle it. I haven't been on this site all that long, but, in that small period of time, several people have already shown themselves to be more interested in baselessly mocking those who disagree with them than rational, civil discussion on the immediate topic.

The problem is most debates start just fine it's when disagreement comes in and things tend to get personal ; I will debate with anyone but if you throw the first snide remark or insult you're going to get it back big time .
I'm a member of Quora also and any snarky remarks , personal attacks , or aggressive debating style is immediately shot down violatations of this policy result in bans .

I'm subscribed to 75 right now, and there would be around 15 I'm not directly subscribed to (but it doesn't let you show that on a permalink.)
But my interests are generally numerous. I have hundreds of bookmarks in my browser, and about 80 podcasts subscribed to right now. It'd be no less than 40 channels on youtube (or perhaps less, I lost count). On quora, though, I follow 0 people (well, 1, but that's my cousin.)
But if that was the case surely boredom would remain as a permanent state ?

Surely if you're bored and you do something to allieviate it well then it just goes ... for me it does anyway .
It's like you're saying we cannot regulate the way we feel or think to me anger , sadness , boredom etc ,etc , are all choices and we all make our own minds up as to how we are going to feel .
I don't see it that way otherwise one is like a cork at sea floating and bobbing all over the place and never in control ; what you seem to be implying is that the mood or feeling is still in the background if you're merely distracting away from it.
I always say we make our own mind up every day on how we are going to feel no one or nothing makes us or indeed has the power to make us unhappy we do that to ourselves by reacting , unthinking reaction .

So, the implication would be that all choice you have is to suppress, and ignore, some responses over others. That's where the nature of our 'choice' comes into play. If you are to go really far with the implications (with more theories), then humans would be just flawed little things that need to think their existence has some divine value.
As is also evident, I could account for all available evidence easily.
You can only compare yourself flawed if you use a benchmark to base your value on , comparison to others is futile just do your own dance . Some humans do indeed think heir existence has divine value , I do not .

One thing I've learned oer the years about Progressives, is that they only want free speech when it agrees with them. Liberal Colleges all over the nation are silencing conservative speakers and conservative thought.
The Left tried to get laws passed that would not allow the many Conservative talk radio shows on the air uness Liberals got equal time.
