California Clothing Manufacturers are fleeing Minimum Wage hike

Oh no what has happened here ? Thought the minimum wage hike was the "Progressive Dream". Maybe not so much there in California according to the clothes manufacturers.
Now, Los Angeles firms are facing another big hurdle — California's minimum wage hitting $15 an hour by 2022 — which could spur more garment makers to exit the state."The exodus has begun," said Sung Won Sohn, an economist at Cal State Channel Islands and a former director at Forever 21. "The garment industry is gradually shrinking and that trend will likely continue."Many apparel companies say Los Angeles is a difficult place to do business. Commercial real estate is expensive and limited, the cost of raw materials continues to rise and it can be difficult to find skilled workers who can afford to live in the city. They expect things will become even more challenging after "the minimum-wage hike further raises their expenses."
How can this happen that minimum wage hikes raise company expenses ?

"The Progressive Dream" is not working out so well. Why is that ?

Reality made its presence known.

There is no singular Progressive dream. Further demonstrating my previous point.

No it certainly appears as if it is not working out too well.

Eight years of Democratic Socialism under Hussein Obama has proved that!

We are in no way, shape, or form better off than we were when he took office.

Not domestically, or on a global scale.

The Nanny State thinks we need them to intervene in everything!

Our wallets, our bedrooms, our businesses, our wage laws.

Instead of letting supply and demand, Friedman style economics propel things. In which market, it will correct itself.

The problem with california and the whole Lefty socialist agenda is that it's too damn close to communism.

Which history has shown does not work.

You can't just throw words around meaninglessly. It undermines any claim you are trying to make, particularly when you misuse them so thoroughly.

The adage, ''you can't buck the market'', is particularly applicable in a global market. Obama's Democratic Party seem to be in the business of job exports and continue to add to the flight of profit conscious corporations which is the prime function of their directors. With American manufacturers trying to compete with their rivals who carry out their businesses in countries where child, and virtual adult slave labour is the norm and at the same time having to endure watching their so called government permit their domestic market to be used as a dumping ground for the goods and produce by their mainly Asian competitors is reason enough for even the most patriotic of corporations to relocate their operations. You guys voted into power a well educated and outstanding orator with the commercial acumen of a child.

Good for those business owners who take their business elsewhere!

I would likely do the same if it were my company.

California continues to screw the pooch and kill themselves.

No wonder people are leaving in droves. Businesses too!

I read that more people left CalI than moved there in 2015. This has not happened in many years.

Look.........$15.00 for min. Wage is absurd.

Those sets who were making, say, $9.00 an hour are still making more in a day than they can in two weeks back in Mexico.

This absurdly high new wage is gonna spur the illegals to come here even more.

So we need to really build up that wall and keep Armed guard with Uzis on the towers.

Keep em out.

Give the new minimum wage jobs to citizens. and cali needs to offer some tax breaks to biz owners as incentives to keep them in state.

Thanks.

Governor "Moon Beam's" reign is not working out very well or what ?

So we should spend more money to justify a minimum wage whose burden is borne by someone else entirely.

By your ideological standard, that is double charging.
