Capitalism Vs. Communism

Much of the global economic crisis has been blamed on irresponsible lending and wreckless stockmarket behaviours. Does Capatilism really work better than Communism?

People in the USA have, for the most part, been raised to beleive that Capitalism is the only economic system that can and should provide a good life for them. The reasoning for this is clear - many enemys of the USA have been Communist nations. However, this have been due to a number of Political indifferences, rather than the fact that the nations are Communist. So, it can be said that a typical American's assesment of the Communist system could be clouded by propoganda created during various periods of conflict/potential conflict.

It is my contention that a strong socialistic system can be prosperous, strong, caring, innovative and co-operatve with the rest of the world. The main arguments presented by Anti-Communists when posed with a debate would usually involve a dig at 'How many people Stalin or Mao slaughtered.' Of course the reign of some Communist leaders hase been soaked in blood, but this is not because they were Communists. Many Capatilist leaders are guilty of a great many atrocities against thier fellow man.

So, it is my desire to keep this debate reserved for economic debate surrounding the two systems.

Warlin said a lot of correct and sharable things: firstly, Russia and China were and are not the effective result of the appliance of the ideology of communism. Just read something about Erich Fromm concerning communism and Russia; secondly, if we are not so blind and ignorant, we have to admit that almost everything we can do in life, such as writing on the Internet, is possible since we all have money and a job, or, at least, our parents have. I have to disagree, though. The idea that what we have is still better than what we would have being under a communist regime, a real communist regime, is wrong: how can you say that if you have never personally witnessed a real communist regime? By reading some of Jack London's epic novels, The iron heel, The people of the abyss, you can witness what Capitalism is, the real face of Capitalism, which is TVs, computers, fashion as well as dead skinned and boned bodies lying on the floor near a mine, in silence. We are living under a capitalistic regime, which probable resembles more a masked dictatorship, we have TVs, we hang out with girlfriends, we attend universities but what the hell happens just a few thousand miles far from here? (I'm Italian) Entire peoples are dying, mining out some fucking material that we use to build I-Phones and I-pads, in spite of Steve Jobs' wonderful speeches. Jaspers, in 1945, after the 2 WW said that they, being German, had a metaphysic guilt: Why they lived and the other died? Today, we can and must answer ourselves pretty much the same thing: Why can we daily and easily eat, drink, hang out while peoples simply born in another parts of the World cannot? Socialism may be the answer, but then how can we accept our hypocrite reality? Thank for your consideration.

The 'communist' governments under Mao and Stalin were hardly communist at all. Definitely dictatorships. There's a lot of hate against communism because of what those two murderers did, but they're by no means an accurate representation of communist philosophy.

This is a hard debate to take a side on, though. Capitalism in its purest form offers a whole lot that communism can't. See, if the government controls all of the resources and how they should be distributed, and the people are made to share everything, and their jobs are determined by what they're best at, and not necessarily their passion, people don't really have much of a reason to work hard. Just hard enough to not be a problem.

Similarly in capitalism, the cogs just work hard enough to get a paycheck most of the time. But. Corporations have to work a lot harder and be smarter to get money so they can accumulate wealth. The state in a communist economy doesn't have to work very hard at all because there's no competition.

And I don't know about you guys, but I like my materialistic wealth, and I can't see a society in which we have all of the cool games and stuff we do if it's purely communistic.

That being said...

I still maintain the way society is going, jobs are going to grow more and more scarce. At least real jobs, anyways. Working part time is going to be come more and more a thing. And we're going to have a lot more spare time to work with. That or these large corporations are going to suck every dime from us and leave us with nothing at all. One of the two. Socialism, for me, is striking the line between capitalism and communism, and I very heartily promote it. Giving people their basic needs, but offering them the option of having money to spend on whatever shiny things they want by selling products, working hard at research, and performing feats of artistic beauty seems like a pretty goddamn idea society to me. Of course. Everything looks good on paper.

So in the end, I'm going to stick with capitalism for now.
