Castro Boys Demand Gitmo Back

Before the US and Cuba can normalize relations, the Castro boys are demanding that Gitmo be returned to them. Now, the agreement was made about a month or so ago. No mention at that time about returning the base. Two countries negotiate for a year and NOW this is being brought up. I contend that giving Gitmo back was all part of Obama's negotiated deal. Now Obama can say he is forced to give it back so relations can be restored. Agree or disagree.

I don't buy it. I dislike Obama, but there is very little in the way of popular support for Gitmo. Most people would like to see it shut down altogether, and if that isn't possible would at the very least not want the US involved in it.

There would be no need for him to pull some kind of conspiracy and hide it from the general public.

The only way I can see this as a conspiracy of sorts is if obama is under some kind of threat from an internal enemy of sorts. And I can't lend credence to a conspiracy theory that is predicated on accepting another conspiracy theory with no evidence even suggesting it EXCEPT for the original conspiracy theory.

Gitmo conspiracy has no credibility without also assuming a "threat to the president" type conspiracy, which itself only has credibility if the gitmo conspiracy is assumed true. I'd need to see some much stronger evidence for either or some other kind of explanation for it to buy this, otherwise all I see is circular reasoning.

Nope Not Correct

There would be no need for him to pull some kind of conspiracy and hide it from the general public.

The need is this:He has tried and failed to do it for over six years. Now hes going to take another route to his campaign promise to lefty's.

I'd need to see some much stronger evidence for either or some other kind of explanation for it to buy this, otherwise all I see is circular reasoning.

Nope Not Correct

Source is misleading due to the use of a compound question.

Source indicates that 66% of individuals responded no to the compound question "Should the US close the prison down and move some of its prisoners to other prisons?"

As such, the no answers actually are logically divided into 3 groups.

1) No to 'Close down gitmo' AND No to 'move some of its prisoners to other prisons.' Prison stays open, all prisoners stay put.

2) No to 'close down gitmo' but Yes to 'move some of its prisoners to other prisons.' Prison stays open, with some prisoners transferred out.

3) Yes to 'close down gitmo' but No to 'move some of its prisoners to other prisons.' Prison is closed, and prisoners are released. This one in particular is what I'm getting at. It's a very misguided but also very popular position amongst the 20-30 demographic.

The 'Yes' group, on the other hand, is yes to both questions; yes close down gitmo, and move some of its prisoners to other prisons.

So as you can see, that 66% voting 'no' actually does contain some viewpoints in favor of closing gitmo down- how many, I'm not sure, but if its an even split across all 3, a majority would support closing gitmo down.

The need is this:He has tried and failed to do it for over six years. Now hes going to take another route to his campaign promise to lefty's.

Doubtful. Obama hasn't seemed particularly concerned about fulfilling most of his promises, much less so without having to be concerned about the possibility of re-election.

I truly believe this was all planned out in advance. Obama wants to give it back. If he can't have his way, he will give other concessions to the Castro boys.

Further, if Obama can pull it off, I wouldn't be surprised if his next move was to give back Alaska to Putin. That would wipe out 3 electoral votes from the Republicans. Then, to get back to 50 states he will push for Puerto Rico to be added. That would add more electoral votes to the Democrats.

Call me a conspiracy theorists, but I would not put anything past Obama. Wipe out white Republicans and bring in Hispanic Democrats.

I know he could not achieve this, but I bet that is what he dreams about.

Yes, you are indeed a conspiracy theorist. I despise Obama, but you are letting blind partisanship get in the way of rational thinking.

It's always tempting to believe the worst about those we disagree with, but you have clearly taken it too far.
