Celebrities' impact on young people
When a life of parties, short-term relationships, drugs, and alcohol are leading celebrities like Britney, Paris, and Lindsay to spiral out of control, you would think that their lifestyle is not ideal. But, fans of these stars disagree. Now, in an age where we have more contact with celebrity gossip than we have ever had, we are faced with a question: what are the effects that superstars have on our youth?

First of I would like to say this debate topic isn't clear sides with the for or against because this isn't two competely different point of views. I agree with both arguements. Not with arguments presented but both sides. Celebrities appear in cool situations like movies and songs, sports games.. things that kids fantasize about. Having super abilities and powers. Naturally we imitate areas of there lifes in our own. Clothing, speech, personality traits. Classic example of monkey see monkey do. Side: It developls their personality

The current youth is trying to be as celebrities. Celebrities are role models for teenagers. However, the influence of celebrities has negative impact on the development of adolescents. First of all, lifestyle. Drugs and the habit to drink alcoholic beverages have become a normal phenomenon among young people. Secondly, Teens think, "look how beautiful she looks and she's skinny as a stick." Almost every other day, a celebrity is in trouble with the law in terms of drug abuse or addiction. Teens see their favorite movie stars or singers doing drugs and they think they should too. Celebrities often cultivate behaviors that are bad, such as drug addiction , and make teens believe these lifestyles to be cool and exciting. Teenagers need to realize that the lifestyle of celebrities is not a best example. Side: It negatively changes them

I think that a lot of the celebrities change teens in bad ways. It influences them to do bad things because there role model is doing them. So they think they can do it too. But there are good role models out there too. Some inspire them to stay strong or do the right thing. But a lot of them dont. Side: It negatively changes them
With television shows today including sexual content, violence, and adult language, children are exposed to unsuitable matter for their ages. Since many parents work and are not always at home, kids have access to shows, movies, and the internet blogs that can tell them things that should be left for parents to explain. Side: It negatively changes them
Teenagers emphasize freedom, yet do not want to take on the responsibilities and obligations of adults. Fun links the teens to experimentation with illegal or illicit substances. Their ideas on life are more in the clouds than in reality. Teens are thinking, dreaming, and even planning a few years ahead. This, in turn, is making celebrities a few years older than them more desirable. Teens are fans of Miley Cyrus, who was caught on film smoking marijuana, Paris Hilton and Lindsay Lohan, who went to jail for drinking and drugs. Teens consider this to be okay, and do not let instances like this hinder their idols’ likeability. Side: It negatively changes them
I can think it negatively changes them because the young people want to be just like the celebrities. Like they want to make more money or they want to be popular and wear the clothes they want to wear. They should focus on people who are a good role model for there life and not clebrities. Side: It negatively changes them
This should have been the debate topic. Clearly states the argument. Celebrities is a broad range of individuals with an even broader range of personalities and lifestyles. To say that celebrities in general negatively changes the young people is very discriminative and not valid with any sort of argument because not all celebrities are the same. Peyton Manning.. how could he be negative. Will Smith? Beyonce or Jay z.. Lil wayne understandable. Anyone who openly does drugs is understandable but not all celebrities do drugs. Not all celebrities are bad. Side: It negatively changes them

Celebrities give people unrealistic ideals on how they themselves, and their lives should be. Being thin, fit, beautiful and rich is something we all strive to be, because it's constantly shoved in our faces that this is how celebrities, made popular by the media, live their lives... and it makes us feel below them. Complete bullshit. Why should they be praised like some god when they're just humans like any of us? A large position only got to where they are today because of their "connections". Side: It negatively changes them
how is striving to be fit a bad thing simply because someone you admire on tv is your reason for trying to be fit? Is being overweight or not physically toned a bad thing? no. But trying to be fit isn't either. And being more wealthy isn't a bad thing either. THe more money you have the more comfortable your life will be. WIll it make you happy. maybe not but it will make you more comfortable. So I dont see how that is bad either. Besides not everyone who watches them tries to strive and be like them. Not everyone tries to learn basketball who watches sports. Not everyone who listens to rappers dresses like rappers, and not everone who dresses like rappers listens to rap. I don't think you read the extra bit of information I gave underneath... I was talking about when these things lead to eating disorders, and how treatment is unaffordable to those who need it, and whether the government should help with these fundings. Side: It developls their personality
