Christians: Why do you believe Jesus is the messiah?

It's just something I find very interesting. The Jews don't believe Jesus is the messiah, because they say he didn't fulfill all the messianic prophecies. So if he didn't fulfill them all, why do you believe he is the messiah? Maybe he did fulfill them all? Perhaps it was personal experience? I'm eager to know.

Atheists, Muslims, Jedi and the like are also welcome to post, but I'd rather this didn't turn into a "Is Christianity true" or "Does God exist" debate? I'm not gonna ban anyone for it, but I'd still like to get a clear answer without having to read through pages of talk about evolution or something.

Let me know.

Yeah!!! I mean..., is it for the same reason that Liberals think that Obama is the messiah? ;)

Let's take a look at some of these.

-

The Messiah would be born of the "seed" of a woman [Genesis 3:15a, Luke 1:34-35].

No shit humans are born from women. Is this a surprise? Yet, to call it "seed" makes even less sense. Is this a hermaphrodite?

The Messiah would defeat Satan [Genesis 3:15b, 1 John 3:8].

Apparently Christians still believe that Satan tempts them, that opposing views are the words of Satan out to deceive you and other such nonsense. Clearly, according to Christians, Satan is still around.

Of course, in reality, Satan nor Jesus actually existed...

A lot of "Would be descended from" points... not sure how that makes a person a savior.

Doesn't prophecy eliminate free will though?

That's rather illogical if god can give prophecies of the future to destroy free will, yet be unable to prove himself to people in the real world because that might end free will.

None of the Messiah's bones would be broken [Exodus 12:46, John 19:32-33].

Ok, that one got me. Looks like you win. Because you know, bones being not broken totally makes you th....

OH SHIT. I must be the messiah!! Whoooo, worship me, bitches.

The Messiah would be King of Israel [Numbers 24:17, John 19:19].

Israel is mainly Jewish, not Christian, and it's a democracy, not theocracy/monarchy. Soooo, that's wrong.

The Messiah would be exalted by God with power and strength [1 Samuel 2:10, Matthew 28:18].

Jesus was killed by his own people. Jesus called himself a god, if he was not a god.

That makes him a liar and a blasphemer, not exalted by a god.

The Messiah would be abandoned by the disciples [Psalm 22:11, Mark 14:50].

His disciples did not abandon him though. They believed in him even after he was killed. So this is wrong too?

I wonder if these people are even reading these first, or if they just post whatever the first thing they see is.

The Messiah would be hated by many without cause [Psalm 35:19, John 18:19-23].

Most people, even unbelievers like atheists, along with Muslims and Jews still respect Jesus as a wise spiritual leader.

Even I do not hate him, but I do disrespect him. WITH CAUSE. His religion has caused war and oppressed nations, even today. I do not respect people who's ideas hurt other people.

Israel would have a hardened heart against the Messiah [Isaiah 6:9-10a, John 12:37-40].

Ok, so this is true, but doesn't this contradict the Messiah being the KING OF ISRAEL?

I think it does, so this is wrong too.

The Messiah would be the "Prince of Peace" [Isaiah 9:6f, Colossians 1:20].

The Abrahamic religions, especially Christianity has been the cause of many wars throughout history.

Jesus did not bring peace, but a sword.

That is also in the bible.

So this is wrong.

-

I'm done reading this bullshit. If your Bible is without error, why does it have so many errors and lies in it?

-

I think you're wrong.

Aweseome! I'm just glad for the first time ever someone has invited the Jedi to reply. Now, if you'll pardon me for a moment, I'm going to stop time with my mind.

Because he fulfilled 353 prophecies. Think that is a coincedence?

If he was truly the messiah then why didn't he fulfill all the prophecies?

What did he not fulfilled. As far as i am concerned he has fulfilled every single prophecy.

When you make said prophecies obvious and vague then yes, it is a coincidence.

Isaiah fifty-seven does not seem vague to me, to name one instance...
