Christians are a Threat to Society

I mean hardcore Christians like Lolzors or Srom. Both would gladly do barbaric monstrosities in the name of their god. Lolzors has even admitted that if he heard a voice in his head, telling him to kill somebody or himself, he would follow it as the voice would have to be "god".

Define threat. For the sake of rational argument, let's talk about individuals who are relatively well mannered since violence is never tolerated in any society. Order is more preferable to chaos. Now, the other threat I am talking about is ignorance. What pisses me off is when these group of pricks walk up to me and proceed to offer me a shot at going to heaven. What an excuse for compassion. The Christian dogma teaches them that life here is a punishment for their disobedience in some fictional heaven. And life should be spent to seek redemption. The false sense of guilt, inner filth and misplaced gratitude is a bane to existence. Christianity uses stories that channels these irrational emotions to lure the gullible.

Side: Correct

There have been people who hear a voice in their head telling them to kill somebody, believe it to be God and actually do it.

Christians are a threat to society because they are a threat to peoples civil liberty and try and force people to follow their beliefs.

Where in their doctrine does it say that God would ever tell them to do that? The bible even tell man that they shall not kill. Those Christians are not different then a non-believer who say the same thing. You are blaming the entire faith and all it's followers on a single person's actions. That's practically discriminatory.

Christians are a threat to society because they are a threat to peoples civil liberty and try and force people to follow their beliefs.

Again, you are wording this as if you mean ALL Christians do this when this isn't the case at all. The one's that do tread on your civil liberties should follow logical consequences, but you are blaming the Christians that don't for actions they never committed. Again, that's practically discriminatory.

Christians are a threat to society

Yep 80% of self-identified Christians are "threats" to society.

because they are a threat to peoples civil liberty

Forcing someone to "not" be Christian isn't a violation of civil liberties?

and try and force people to follow their beliefs.

Aren't you doing the same thing?

No

Also may I ask why you are dredging up a debate from almost a year ago?

1. They believe in a magical being called "god"

2. They continue to believe in that magical being even after rational thinking disproves it

3. Crusades, Salem Witch Trials, abortion clinic bombings, etc.

I should also clarify that I think all Abrahamic religions are threats to society.

They are. It was Christians who fueled the Crusades. It's Christians who rape little boys. It was a Christian who bombed the Oklahoma building.

I see. So, a few Mexicans just stole my car. I see that around the nation there are other Mexicans that steal cars. Are all Mexicans car thieves?

There are some white people that hacked my computer today. I notice that around the nation there are other white people that hacked innocent civilians. Are all white people hackers?

I notice that blacks in my neighborhood are very aggressive and always want to start fights with bystanders. I notice that around the nation other blacks participate in the same course of actions. Are all blacks belligerent?

I notice that there are some Islamic organizations that are engaging in terrorist like activities. I notice that around the nation other Islamics are doing the same thing. Are all Islamics terrorists?

I notice that they are some debaters on here that have very low levels of argumentation. I notice that on other sites there are similar debaters. Are all online debaters lacking an understanding in argumentation.

I definitely think hardcore Christianity to the point where if you think God is telling you to kill yourself or someone else is incredibly harmful to society at large. I don't know how you could deny the threat it poses.

Not all, but most, especially in the U.S. They want to turn us into a Christian Country.

I think one of the main threats they pose on our society of today, is their views on contraception. Particularly the damage they afflict and continue to afflict, on various African countries for example.

To ban artificial means of contraception, with so many sexually transmitted diseases and infections still prevalent, is disgusting and immoral in my opinion.

So yes, in my opinion, quite obviously, they're teachings do threaten safety and health in today's society.

Honestly in this day and age, i think God is only 'truly' believed by a few, but the masses accept him as a symbol or idea. That said, those two had to be either mentally ill or lying hoping for a lesser penalty.

Even still this isn't proof that Christians wholeheartedly are a threat, this just proves that a Christian can be.

I doubt Srom would kill someone and Im a skeptical sort of Christian. We aren't all bastards. ;)

Srom has said before he'd kill if God commanded. Same will lolzors; although, I think lolzors is worse considering he's arguments are just completely insane. With Srom, you can tell, there's just a lot of naivety there, or at indoctrination. Maybe, sometime in the future, he'll critically self-reflect on his religion; I can't ever see lolzors doing that.

Side: Incorrect

Nope, every major culture tries to blame Christians but in the end its just themselves. First at bat, Emperor Nero. Blames the Christians for the firing of ancient Rome. Who does it turn out to be? Nero's men who HE TOLD to pretend to be drunk and then set fire to nearby buildings. Christians were also blamed for the eventual downfall of Rome. In fact it is a factor, but no where near the reason for its downfall. Hyper-inflation, decline of morals, political corruption, rising unemployment, urban decay, inferior technology brought upon by stagnant education were the real reasons for Rome's downfall. Blaming the Christians caused the empire of Rome to not look at it's real problems until the empire crumpled beneath them. Keep on blaming Christians people, repeat history!

Nobody is blaming Christians for anything. This debate isn't even about the fall of Rome. The question (since you appear to have ignored the debate title and description) is whether or not Christians are a threat to society. Revise your argument or leave my debate.

You missed the point of my argument. Every society has asked the same question. It started with Rome, they used them as a scapegoat, but in reality they aren't a threat.

Martin Luther King Jr. was a Christian and he fought for the human rights of an entire race, many people would call that noble or praise-worthy. There are noble, peaceful Christians out there. I'll bet anything what you're really asking is if Fundamentalist Christians are a threat. If you judge an entire group of people based on the worst they have to offer then you'll eventually wind up thinking everyone is a threat. Making hasty generalizations like that is not only blind, but shows as much paranoia and personal bias as the extremists that everyone despises so much.

Hello, everyone! First of all, I just want to say, yes, I am a Christian, and no, I have never killed anyone. Alright, now that that's over with.. I have a question. If Christians ARE a threat to society, how does that make them any more of a threat than Muslims, Hindus, etc.? I'm not trying to say anything bad about other religions, but think about it. Who flew planes into the World Trade Center? Christians? I think not. I'm not saying that all people who claim to be Christians are good people. In fact, all men are innately sinful. However, true Christians would never want to hurt anyone. Well, that's all I have time for. Have a nice day!:)
