Christians... does this really make sense

So christians, and other god believers, or i guess more appropriately would be end time believers....

If the end times are near and jesus is coming to take us back to heaven and then everyone else goes to hell and the end of the world happens...

Then what the fuck? That would mean everything we have done here on this planet and everything we are doing, like quantum mechanics, space exploration, technological advancements.... are all for nothing, according to your beliefs, everything we are doing is being done for nothing because it is all going to be wiped clean. The earth is going to be gone, and everything that god has created will disappear... all because he says its time to go....

this just doesnt make sense to me at all, i believe in god, but i dont believe there will be a judgement day... its just counterproductive really...

Were all looking forward to a brighter future but according to you guys, its meaningless....

So..... what the hell?

Do you honestly believe the rapture will come and then humanity will be no more and we will just chill in heaven or hell forever? BOOOOORING

Actually, the end times already happened.

This WAS heaven, but you guys ruined it.

Now there's pollution, the air smells foul, the oceans are dirty, the land is torn up and destroyed.

This WAS heaven, but it's ruined now. Thanks guys.

Wow, so many Christians all on one debate... Kind of scary :L Anyway of course it doesn't make sense, very little about their damned religion makes any sense! What you have mentioned there is only a very small fault in their beliefs. If you ask me, anyone who gets their morals from a book written when slavery was normal and magical dead but not dead cosmic zombie sons of greater beings but still somehow human men walked on water.. Is a little bit off!

You're assuming that Christians who believe we're in the last days think that everything's going to be wiped clean.

I believe that progression and learning and all that stuff you mentioned we will use in the eternities and that only the evil things will be "wiped clean".

So tell me how scientific is it to assume the beliefs of others?? No really, tell me. You clearly just wanted to prove a point. It's so easy to paint an ugly picture of what somebody else believes so that you can just tare it down.

Side: doesnt make sense

I don't believe in any rapture. I also don't believe in Hell. Hell is only for horror movies.

You got judgement day wrong (take there to be 2).The world will end eventually but not yet ( say after earth and the milky way are long dead and space has turned into an inhospitable empty vacuum when no knowledge is useful cause no life exists no more) when it does though Boom and a new world is born which then lives out it's life while dead people keep moving up then finally when all have spiritually evolved and no matter or energy or any other substance no longer needs to be sent here the 2nd one comes and everyone goes to heaven ... The END.

when all have spiritually evolved and no matter or energy or any other substance

I think there is a substance that we havent detected yet that makes up our spirit, god cant break his own laws of nature, therfore it must use something instead of magic to keep it all together.

And everything is just energy, and energy cant be created or be destroyed. Every substance, is a form of energy

I mean entire Universal death ( when the world was made from the collision of two membranes floating in hyperspace our world was born [big bang] and expanded {still expanding, where is space coming from?} it was the birth of a universe [ours] within a membrane it an just as well disappear ,anyway the "Laws" we have were broken when the world was made when it dies they'll just fall apart and vanish ref. Quantum Physics & M theory) so I mean EVERYTHING will die. even the dust particle on you computer)

When the rapture occurs it God will take His people into heaven and the non-believers will be on this earth for 7 years and it will be known as the Tribulation and trust me you don't want to live in that time period because a lot of disasters are going to happen like plagues, famines, etc.

During the Tribulation you will have a choice to take the Mark of the Beast and if you don't its going to be very hard for you to survive. If you do take it then you will be able to buy food and water and after the Tribulation you will go straight to hell because the Mark of the Beast(666) is from the devil.

Yes, I know you probably like this world and you probably like the things in it like the phones, computers, and all the other earthly things but when God comes it will be meaningless because all theses things are distractions to get us away from God. Like watching TV, playing video games, and all of those other activities keep us away from God. We need to focus on Him rather than earthly things.

Well i dont plan on being taken to heaven right away and im never taking the mark of the beast, and the only reason i like this planet is because of the beauty it has, i dont care about materialistic things, they dont capture my attention, well they do, but i dont center my life around them, im a really spiritual person, the only thing i really care about is living in spirit. I dont want to get taken to heaven, i want to stay on earth to help those who are trapped here too.

I believe in biblical prophecy, but i dont think the end times will be the entire end times, just a harsh transition into a new era, like jesus said and the bible has altered, jesus said i will be with you until the end of ages. He never said hed be with us until the end of the world.

So idk, i think my purpose in life is to help bring spirituality back, i just want humanity to continue on this planet because its an experience, and thats why god put us here is for experience and theres an infinite amount of souls, and if some never get to experience anything, then that defeats the purpose.

So, i do believe in the end of the world, but i dont think god or jesus is going to come back and say ok time to go to heaven, no, i think civilization will continue for a very, very, very long long time

When a baby is in the womb full of red and pink and orange darkness it's happy floating around it doesn't know the beauty which awaits it outside just as we don't know of the grandeur and magnificence of heaven ! It's natural to be scared of thing we don't know.

Well since your a believer in God you will be taken to heaven right away once the rapture occurs because God could come at any moment and you or I might not be ready for it so we have to be ready every single day. Why would you say such a thing? Saying that you don't want to go to heaven and you would want to stay on earth! Heaven is a much better place than earth and far better than earth.

I believe in biblical prophecy, but i dont think the end times will be the entire end times, just a harsh transition into a new era, like jesus said and the bible has altered, jesus said i will be with you until the end of ages. He never said hed be with us until the end of the world.

I do too believe in the biblical prophecies and some of them have came to pass and some haven't been fulfilled yet like the rapture. He will fulfill it once He thinks that He has enough of the corruption going on. He said that He would be with us during the hard times in life and even when there are signs and wonders He said don't be be afraid because they must come to pass.

So, i do believe in the end of the world, but i dont think god or jesus is going to come back and say ok time to go to heaven, no, i think civilization will continue for a very, very, very long long time

I believe that God will come at any time this year or next year because the times are coming close to where God is going to come.

Is there any point in constant advancement for human civilization anyway? Is progress really necessary?

Side: makes so much sense

Thats the whole point of the debate, whats the point of human advancement if its just going to be game over soon.

But what i am saying is its kind of bullshit to have wasted our lives on worrying so much about each other and making progress, when its literally, all for nothing.

Im a firm believer in the divine, but i dont think we should halt our species just for the sake of being saved, seems kind of selfish...

Even if you're not a Christian, you spent your whole life accumulating welath and knowledge when you ulimately end up dying anyway.

Christains believe that while we can progress it shouldn't be the primary goal of society.

You are assuming that these things you mentioned are important to God. Why would God need to know whats on the other side of the universe? He is omnipotent, and omniscient (I think he already knows).

You are also neglecting an important facet in the "end times" God will restore the earth as it once was, (perfect in every regard). We won't need any of the things that this world holds up as important or "great and mighty." Most everything we are doing here on earth is without God, just as the tower of babble was being made. Why would God consider the things humans do or make of much greatness. He just wants us to believe in him. That's why he's so angry.

Look, to me, not enough is really said in the bible to really debate heaven and hell or what these will be like. What matters to me is one is definitely good, and the other bad. God being omniscient - I think he knows what he's talking about and whatever "heaven" or after the end times will be...will be great. I will just take his word for it, and then...not worry about the issue too much more thereafter. If God is all powerful and all knowing, I think he knows what's best for each of us.

Here is a story I found very intriguing:

Take two sheets of paper on one draw a triangle, on the other a rectangle.

These two shapes represent Mr. and Mrs. Flat. They live in flat land. A land that is two dimensional. Each of them can walk around the other and all the see are straight lines but each of them can perceive the second dimension and realize that they are shapes.

So here I am in three dimensional land, a human being. I want to introduce myself to Mr. and Mrs. Flat. So I stick my index finger down onto Mr. Flat's paper. He now comes over to investigate. He walks around my finger and see's it as a circle (two dimensions remember) It's the cross section of my finger.

OK so now I go and put three of my fingers onto Mrs. Flat's paper. She comes over and also investigates and see's three cross sections of my fingers. Both of them run back to each other and say to each other I've seen Mr. Gallmeyer. Mr. Flat says he's a circle. Mrs. Flat disagrees and says no no no he is three circles. Ten years down the road they still argue about it.

Moral of the story is: This I think is also how church splits happen. Also, and more importantly, I believe that God: an all powerful all knowing infinite being can NOT be represented clearly in our three dimensional land that we perceive. So of course there are going to be a few arguments and a difference in opinions about some things.

The main thing is we say the "same thing" as Paul teaches in his letters. So what is the same thing you ask? Jesus' work on the cross covered all sin. All that is required of us, is to believe in the one God sent. Simple as that.

They are important to us and our experience, so they should be important to god, what you said implies that god shouldnt care about our achievements. But he should, because it shows that we are making ourselves better (somewhat). God doesnt need to know whats on the other side of the universe, but we do, because we are curious about it and it would be a cruel god to end our curiosity.

Alot of the things we do here on earth are FOR god, maybe not directly to him, but reaching out into the cosmos and becoming inspired in awe by the magnitude of it all is the definition of worship to me.

You are not taking his word for it you are taking mans word for it. Man, who wrote down the word of god, but in their faults diluted the message. Out of their fear they twisted the message, and out of their greed, they sheltered the true message.

The stroy you are talking about is good, but we are 3 dimensional creatures. The mayans talked about moving into the 4th and 5th dimension. if you ask me, the mayans knew more about god than what your religion preaches. Sure, they sacrificed people, but that was for the flesh royalty, not for the spirit within.

If god came into our 3 dimensional world from the higher dimensions, we would not know it, because it is not a 3 dimensional being. Which is why we must advance and make progress by intertwining into higher dimensions. Only then can we truly know what is truth and what is not.

Well here's what I believe on the matter... God wanted us to live before we die because everything has an end to it. I believe very much that judgement day will come and we would not matter any more but by the time that time comes who on earth is going to care about what they left behind? You either go to heaven or hell and the earth will be gone so what we did will no longer matter all we did with all this technology was make our lives easier. So when we die none of it's going to matter any more.

The earth wil "abide forever", the Bible promises. Jesus said, "the meek shall inherit" the earth, as well (Matthew 5:5).

God pronounced his creation "very good" and perfect before the deliberate disobedince of man, and he promised to rectify their sin as soon as it happened (Genesis 3:15) by means of his first-begotten Son.

What most people are missing is the whole purpose of the life we are allowed to live today, being imperfect, and causing so much distress and evil to each other, and ending with complete death.

Here is the purpose:

Before the material universe existed, angelic life was created. And when God created the universe, topping it off with the creation of mankind as the last creation, the angels "shouted in applause", and it was all pronounced, "very good." Our first parents would STILL BE ALIVE if they had remained faithful.

Enter the wrench in the machinery, bringing questions and challenges to God, throwing out the possibility that all was not as God had said it was, that God's rulership was not the best. He tricked the woman into an act of disobedience by appealing to her selfishness; and she in turn influenced the man, who made a deliberate decision to sin.

Satan challenged that mankind could rule himself (and in so doing, obey Satan rather than God).

This challenge is touched on in many scriptures throughout the Bible, most notably in Genesis and Job, but most religious bodies teach nothing about it, glossing over its importance, even tho the Biblical explanation satisfies a number of questions people often harbor secretly, causing them to lose faith in God altogether.

This challenge to God's sovereignty is why mankind live and die for the past 6000 years. God has assured those faithful to him that what small amount of suffering we go thru right now will not matter in the long run, because the earth will soon be cleansed of crooked business, government, and religions (at Armageddon), and then be made "very good" and "perfect" again.

You see, once God sets out a purpose, you can rest assured that it WILL come true (Isaiah 55:11).

He once set a purpose for the earth and life on it, to exist in peace eternally. That purpose will be brought to fruition.

So this physical earth will not be "celestialized". It will exist materially forever, and those who worship God in the way in which he approves will survive the cleansing at Armageddon.

See Revelation 12, 11:18; Psalm 37:11, 29; Proverbs 2:21; Revelation 21:3,4.
