This is clear evidence that while a society can establish a robust policy of equality of opportunity no one, not even Jesus Christ Superstar, can guarantee equality of achievement. Within the world of academia there will always be high achieving students just as there are high performing individuals and teams in the field of competitive sports. There are many social and racial factors in play in the competition of achieving academical qualifications. A stable home life conducive to subject study. A congenital desire to succeed. A willingness to sacrifice some youthful social activities in favor of home studies. In my neck-of-of-the-woods Asian students usually outperform Whites and, everything else being equal, Blacks and whites are placed fairly evenly in the upper levels of tertiary education. In my opinion too much importance is given to achieving degrees, especially arts degrees. We have those with a natural talent in a range of trades, such as electrical or mechanical engineering and joinery all studying history, or geography. Side: Rename buildings
