There are a couple of reason why cloning is a bad idea.

1) You would annoy a lot of people.

Many people think that cloning would be immoral. The Catholic Church, for example, is against it - and the Church has a lot of people who will listen, therefore meaning that to clone anyone, humans or animals, would be seen as wrong by many people.

2) Small success rate.

The success rate, if I am not mistaken, is between 0.1 and 0.3 percent.

Because of this you would have to carry out several experiments before you got exactly what you wanted.

3) It is very expensive, and we are in a recession at the moment.

To spend so much money on animals, when the financial market is currently crumbling, is not a good thing to happen. People can't afford it and it may be seen by those who support cloning yet cannot afford it as unfair because of the class discrimination.

4) We have larger problems to worry about now.

2012, Credit Crunch, Afghanistan, and many more, are things that we should be focussing our attention on at this point in time. Do you think that we should really be focussing on making copies of people who are already there?

cloning could do alot for us. if we cloned animals, then we would have much more food! we could clone tiny things too, like medicines, we could clone blood for people who need blood donations, and we could clone assisting pets for seeing eye dogs.

I love your make-believe world, but that unfortunately isn't how it works.

If we cloned animals then they may have a slightly shorter lifespan and would not develop quite as consistently as the real animals. If we then moved on from animals to people we would face all kinds of religious and moral issues.

If we cloned assisting dogs for people that had impaired eyesight it would not accomplish what you may think. What would happen is that these clones would still have to be trained and educated to assist people; they would not just stand up after birth and start guiding people around the place.
