Could the South have "won" the Civil War if McClellan was elected in 1864?

When it comes to the American Civil War a lot could have happened. If the South pursued the Union after the Battle of Bull Run they could've reached D.C. with little resistance. If the South broke through Union lines at Gettysburg and turn the tide of battle they could have had a clear march to D.C. If the South focused more in the West than in the East they could have flanked the North and took D.C. If the South had gained backing from Great Britain (which could have happened) than the South could've been well supplied to take on the North.

When the war ended, there was still conflict. Some Southerners even put on a guerrilla warfare against Union shipments and such. Believe it or not, Lincoln wasn't really liked at the beginning of the Civil War by either side. It wasn't until the end he was looked upon as a hero. McClellan was a bad general but who knows, maybe he could have done a thing or two.

In a alternate universe the south did win. .
