Maine Senator Olympia Snowe announced she will not seek reelection. She was one of the few senators moderates that was willing to reach aross the aisle.

She decided to do so because of excessive partisonship.
I will not name what party she is from as that would be an insult to everything she worked for.
I can't think of anyone left in congress like her.

Good riddance RINO! (jk) I hate to agree with you but it is a shame. Although you think I'm some hard core Republican, I'm not! I'd like to see a lot more Senators and Congresspeople that would be willing to work with the other party. (actually, I'd rather not have parties, period! But that will never happen) Side: Noooooo!!!!

I haven't heard of her before today and as far as I can see, I don't agree with all of her ideas- the government control of the social security issue for example- but with our current political choices, her pros definitely outweigh her cons. (Plus I support stricter gun control and protecting the environment) Side: Noooooo!!!!

I'm not a Mainiac, and was unaware of her. However, if Wikipedia is to be believed, she supports the death penalty, the war on drugs, and the embargo on Cuba. That's enough for me to say Good Riddance! Maine could use some libertarians, maybe one'll be lucky enough to replace her. Side: Good Riddance
I'd have to agree with Liber on this one. Her policies are ones that I feel that government could do without. Just because someone is a moderate does not mean that they are a decent politician... they can easily support the wrong things (like the war on drugs). She's an environmentalist and supports complete government control of Social Security. She supports the bailouts and stimulus funds. She supports strict gun control. She just seems like an all out big government conservative. Sure, she supports abortion and gay rights... but that's one of the few redeeming qualities I can find in her. Side: Good Riddance
