Democratic Senator's confusion that Gun Silencers make Guns Silent.

The silencer industry and gun rights groups say critics are vastly overstating the dangers, arguing that Hollywood has created an unrealistic image of silencers, which they prefer to call “suppressors.” They cite studies showing that silencers reduce the decibel level of a gunshot from a dangerous 165 to about 135 — the sound of a jackhammer — and that they are rarely used in crimes.  Silencers don't make guns silent.

But Senator Kirsten Gillibrand (D-NY) is in a State of Confusion.
I'm fighting back against bills (backed by the Trump admin) that'd make it easy for criminals to buy gun silencers
Can you imagine if we allowed a criminal with a gun in New York City to attach a silencer to their weapon? It'd be a dangerous mistake.
When someone gets shot by a gun with a silencer, it's quiet. Witnesses might not hear. Police will be less likely to track down the shooter.
Senator Kirsten Gillibrand (D-NY) has come out strong against suppressors claiming they make guns "quiet" and implying potential mass criminal use.
Either Senator Gillibrand needs to learn more about firearms before she tweets or she's deliberately misstating the truth.

This isn't as funny as the moron who claimed if we ban high capacity mags that those mags would go away once they have been used.

Gotta love it when the uneducated try to act educated.

A bullet leaving the muzzle at supersonic speed and doesn't make any sound? That would be a trick

Pffft. I bet she also believes "armour piercing bullets" actually pierce through armour. Or that "cop killer" bullets kill cops. Or that pressing a "gun safety" off makes the gun unsafe.

Where do people get such crazy ideas?

Keep in mind these people, who don't know jack shit about guns, want to take our Second Amendment rights away.

Some of them do. Some of them just want sensible public safety.

Hey, even if a silencer typically isn't whisper quiet like shown in the movies it's still true that it could be used to make it harder for police to figure out where a sniper was shooting from. The Senator not fully understanding silencers does not in and of itself invalidate their concern.

It's analogous to a conservative saying they want tax reform but then not being an expert on every nuance or terminology of taxes. It doesn't invalidate their desire for tax reform.
