As TERMINATOR said, they are dead. WHAT THE HELL DOES IT MATTER?

I agree. They are dead. Unless the family of the loved one is there. And if its under the ground taking up space, than who cares if you step on the grave?

Of course it should be illegal!!! What the hell?! Disrespecting the dead is one of the sickest things you can possibly do! How can you feel so apathetic as to say "So what if I step on a grave, they're dead." to me IT'S SYMBOLIC OF YOU WIPING YOUR FEET ON THEIR LIFE! How could even think this in all fairness?!

But they are dead. If you cut them to pieces, they will not feel it. If you insult them, they will shed no tears - they are without life. Without life means they have no feelings, no sentience. Even if you believe that they have a spirit, many believe that the spirit leaves the body after death - there is absolutely no remains of the previous life other than the 'shell'.

But the person chose to be buried for whatever reason, this question has made me ponder a bit, and I think I'd prefer to donate my organs and have the waste of my body thrown to the sea, so I could be of use to something.

I think it's the morality behind this that got me fired up, this is the wish of a deceased person's family, and probably one of the deceased themselves, and one which I feel should be respected and held with high regard.

But there is still the family to think about and the fact that this "piece of meat" was once human and that in itself deserves some respect. Why do we ,as a nation, want to support the mutilation of corpses (this doesn't include organ donation or cadavers) and general horrible things.

It can't be considered disrespect if the body is put to good use... in either medicine or education

Well, when you disrespect a corpse it's not the corpse you're hurting... it's the family of whoever the corpse was. I assume by disrespect it is meant things such as mutilating a corpse. People should have to respect the wishes of others and the rights of others. Everybody should be able to be protected in both life and death.
