Dissecting cats in high school.
My AP Biology class will be dissecting cats next week in lab. I'm really excited; I can't wait! So I tell a lot of people, but I get mixed responses. Some of them (mostly the guys) think it's awesome and are jealous. Others (mainly girls, and not being sexist) think it's either gross or wrong to disect house pets. What do you think? Keep in mind, that they died of natural causes and their bodies were donated to science. Some are even strays. But we didn't go out and round up the neighborhood cats to cut them open.
Awesome!

It is just for the benefit of education then I do not see a problem with it at all. For those of you that are 'cat lovers' cats have been breed until they have now become overpopulated ( at least in the USA ). So dissecting some strays doesn't seem that bad in my opinion. Hey ever heard of a cadaver? Side: Awesome!

Heh, sorry to make a reductio ad hitlerum, but Hitler totally agreed with you. Considering science is pretty much infinite, I think it's safe to say that some areas should be kinda off-limits. Like researching guns that cause organ failure, or war robots that make war politically agreeable. Did PETA ever voice an objection to dissecting cats? I didn't hear about this Side: That's so horrible!

What a waste of labor. Cats should never be dissected for educational purposes. Wasting a perfectly good, dead cat on education in the stead of the hundreds of great tasting cat recipes is an abomination to cat lovers. Has anyone tried the chilli recipe for cat? It's one of the best uses of cat meat. (ROTFL) Side: That's so horrible!

The dissection of cats should be completely off-limits to high school students. I can guarantee 90% of those high schoolers will NOT take the dissection as a "learning experience" like most of you may believe. Only those who are actually studying to become someone who deals with the anatomy of a living creatures body should have access to this kind of dissection. Having an innocent feline's life cut up for entertainment by children with half-assed attitude toward their education shouldn't even be something to debate about. Side: That's so horrible!
