I love the idea in concept but find it disconcerting whenever I have to concentrate my ID/PW from one site with another. I think FriendFeed mainly using screenscraping to gather its data, which is bad. It would be a lot better if it worked through a secure API (but, alas, not everybody offers secures APIs).

Have you checked out Second Brain? Another similar competitor.

Yeah, I agree to a certain degree. Losing all the interactivity of the sites is a downside, but I might not have time to quickly check out all the updates by going to all the sites. Facebook does this to a certain degree, but - it's the same idea. That would be one ID/PW that you could use to view all the other sites that you participate in. It could also act like a id/pw saver with a one click login, as long as that service doesn't expire their cookie.

Content aggregator sites are what you make them. They don't have to be boring. It's what you put there that makes it interesting or not. I don't really think they are made to be fancy. That being said, I honestly only use Google Reader and haven't delved into any other aggregator sites. But I enjoy my GR so much that it might be a good idea that I start checking them out.
