Do Gay Women have it easier than Gay Men?

I feel, sometimes, that lesbians have it easier than gay men.

Both are targeted. But I many of the same bigots who hate gays, are also taught not to harm women. There is also a positive sexual association with lesbians.

Men are socially expected to be tough. Gay men can dispute that image, causing many criticisms. However, there are two socially acceptable visions of women. Strong, independent, and tough women, (lesbians typically fit this appearance) and caring, sweet, innocent women. (straight women usually appear more like this.)

Women are seen only as sex objects by most men

While a lot of people will assume they can get in on the action, they fail to see that women arent lesbians so that men can act out fantasies and have threesomes

They are lesbians because they aren't sexually attracted to men

As a bi-sexual woman I do believe we have it easier. For some women it's not very noticeable that they're gay or bi. As for men it's easier to tell so they're are criticized more. And I also agree with the person below me.

Howdy. First, welcome to the LGBT community.

Second, a lot of gay men hide it very well.

When you think about it, no one complains about girl-on-girl-action (GOGA). But you get a man kissing another man in the movies and people get uncomfortable.

Lesbian women have it easier because society has tolerated it more because of more visibility. Also, it probably has to do with feminism where men are supposed to be seen as tough and callous whereas women are seen as caring and forgiving.

How many of us have heard this statement: "That's hott!" in reference to two lesbians. But the moment something is said about two gays: "Gross. Go die. Disgrace." How many times must we hear this. Now tell me, what in the hell is the difference between lesbians and gays. Whoopie do. I mean when a woman loves a woman everyone could care less. A man loving a man, they get ready for WWIII! It's about damn time we blow the top off of this issue and give it up. We're all human, and we should be treated as such. HOMOSEXUALITY IS NOT A DISEASE!!

Side: Yes, they have it easier

Generally in relation to their sexuality and prejudice, yes I'd say so. I have two hypothesises about this. Now some here have acknowledged that two men are typically regarded as "gross" in society where as two womenare typically regarded as "hot". Now this either suggests that homophobia is more rampant in men than women. I also hypothesize that natural distaste of homosexuality I will argue can come about without a conditioning from let's say religion, politics, etc, however when it is natural like this and completely based off distaste rather than indoctrination, I think it would be likely that the same-sex couple whom sex matches the naturally prejudiced individual would get the most attention from them if not all. These two hypotheses combined would suggest that men are more inclined to natural homophobia or rather homophobia primarily based on distaste. Now this may seem somewhat sexist but as a man one thing I've noticed about sexuality with men and sexuality with women, women are a lot more comfortable with each other sexually than men are, in my experience bisexual women were a lot more common than bisexual men. My second hypotheses is that homophobia is restrained more since our society sees women as softer and thus must be treated with more care, however I somehow doubt that especially since it seems less evident.
