Do You Think That They Should Stop The Seal Hunt In Canada?

I think that we SHOULD stop seal hunting because they are a very important subject in the food chain. They will feed polar bears, killer whales ect. so they dont need us humans decreasing the numbers they need, insted we should try to eat animals which are tasty and not too big on the food chain, like birds, pigs, geese, cows ect.

Polar bears feed mainly on a group of walruses that have hauled out onto the ice.

also the bears have many other foods such as harp and hooded seals and scavenge on carcasses of beluga whales, walruses, narwhals, and bowhead whales. second(correct me if I'm wrong)

but you said insted we should try to eat animals... as far i know people kill the seals to get there valuable and smooth skin not to eat them.

Side: No

Yes we should stop hunting seals. At the very least, it's an embarrassment. The government should buy them out and be done with it.

As long as there is enough of a species, there is nothing wrong with hunting. In fact shooting an animal is far more humane than a lot of the stuff they do to the processed pigs and chickens and cows we eat all of the time.

Of course we do not want any animal going extinct because it makes it harder for us to find stuff to eat later, and it makes it harder for other species we may use in that particular eco system.

As long as people are smart about it, we can both hunt, and continue to enjoy what nature provides. If we act like a bunch of yahoos and kill every animal, then we suffer later. And not hunting at all is bad for the human diet, there are too many humans who starve for us not to take advantage of meat.

So you don't mind if I gun you down?

Maybe your parents too.

There's atleast 6billion other humans left. We should survive.

Hate to break it to you

humans > animals

Yes I realize we are basically just a smart monkey, but we are a really smart monkey capable of things like empathy, reflection, self-realization. If a human is starving, and a seal is starving, the human should eat the seal, not the other way around.

At any rate, I like animals as much as the next person, but they should not be treated the same as humans, they do not have the capacity to return the favor.

That must be really northern Canada - not a seal around here for a good thousand miles, for sure.

What purpose is there to stop hunting seals? So that they don't die out? So that they don't go the way of the dodo?

Every animal can be hunted to extinction, but if we stopped hunting every animal for fear of extinction we'd have little or no meat to consume.

Baby seals? You might as well pit your pits against some plastic toys. Now a big ass full grown pit against an adult seal, that would be something to take bets on.

From an economic perspective I will say no because it's a big part of Canada's economy and the US is increasingly investing more in Canada because of their oil sands So if Canada tanks the pinch will be felt here too.

No, it is part of our heritage and has been the way of life for many over centuries. I don’t get the people who say it is inhumane; it is no different than killing a cow, pig, deer, etc., for their resources, food, pelts, etc.
