Do animals feel pain
Although it may seem that the simple and instinctive answer is that they do have this capability, but if you want to give animals the feeling of pain your saying that they can feel in general which must lead to the conclusion that there must be a personality and a self which is feeling the pain .The bigger question is what exactly is the level of an animals consciousness, you might be feel quite confident to say that a animal is only a physical body with out a so called deeper self and unique personality (more likeness to robot than Homo sapiens although certainly not a robot) and there will be little chance that a animal will have Descartes felling of cogito ergo sum but by saying that you are automatically leaning to the opinion that a animal can't feel pain simple because it lacks the faculty to sense and feel and any symptoms of pain which it gives is of instinctive sort (maybe rooted from the struggle to survival)

Animals do feel pain and I never like to see them suffer. I can deduct that dogs have souls because they are loyal to their owner, and if the owner should be away for a long time, the doggie will come up running to the owner crying and very emotional with jumping up and down. |
