Well, many great civilizations have had walls erected to help defend against invasions of unwanted rabble as well as the armies of hostile nations.

A few historical examples of such fortifications include the Roman/Hadrian's Wall at the northern boundary of 'Britannia'( England) and Caledonia ( Scotland).

Then of course there is the Great wall of China, the defensive walls of Constantinople, ( now Istanbul,) the Long Walls of Athens, the Great Wall of Gorgan.

Of course the walls around the world's countless castles and citadels have served to protect countries and cities from invasion by enemy forces and undesirables for centuries.

People build boundary walls and fences around their land to help stop trespassers, vandals and criminals from entering their property.

Walls are also built to keep people in captivity such as prison walls or ''THE BERLIN WALL'' which was constructed to stop the subjugated citizens of Communist East Berlin escaping to the freedom of West Berlin.

We don't want to get waylaid with semantics, but YES, WALLS/FENCES/FORTIFICATIONS DO WORK.

lmao not those ones certainly. pretty easy to hoist a person over top of those. a 6ft tall person could probably pull themselves over on their own, for that matter. to say nothing of the modern marvel of ladders. both of which were used jan 6. altho admittedly it's an improvement to the literal built in ladder on the congressional building itself.

this is the symbolic escalation of security measures which precedes the more robust concentration of nationalistic 'security' powers to the state after the perceived but not actual threat to 'democracy'.

Do walls work?

Sure. They hold up my roof extremely well.

But remind us all again how a wall is the same thing as a fence please Bronto.

In fact, remind us how a giant wall across the Mexican border is the same thing as an anti-vandal fence put up as an emergency measure against violent right wing protesters.

Don't walls and fences do the same thing?

Both keep out vandals?

Don't birds and planes do the same thing? They both fly. Therefore birds are planes and planes are birds. Welcome to Brontoraptor's glorious third reich logic, fresh from the sphincter of Hitler.
