Do we need others?

I will admit that in the short run that one could function without others, all they need is food, water etc. (assuming that they could gather that themselves which, let's be honest, not many people would be able to do). But in the long run yes, we most definitely need others. For one, on the most basic level it is human nature to see companionship and one can often get lonely. Also, without others the human race would die and so we indefinitely 'need' others in order to continue our linage. Also on a practical level, at this time and age, we all rely on others for everything: clothes, food, water etc. etc. I do not think that, unless somebody has had training, a modern age human would be able to exist (for very long) without others. Also if we talking about others as other living things then absolutely yes, we could not function without animals or plants.

Of course. Any human could live on there own completely cut off from others, but we need others to reproduce and such. Not to mention people now need others mentally. We're very dependent on day-to-day interactions with others at this point.

Side: yes

Unless someone is a solipsist, we do need others. A society could not function without everyone communicating.
