Using the Bible as proof for God is circular reasoning.
"I know God exists"
"Because the Bible says so"
"Who ordered the writing of the Bible then?"
"How do you know God exists"
"Because the Bible says so"
And so on for eternity. Unless you have evidence which is not circular, your case fails completely.
If you read my agrument there were eyewitnesses who saw Jesus and there were 500 witnesses that saw Jesus after He rose from the dead.
Who ordered the the writing of the Bible then?
God did so that Christians could learn about God and know how it was back then and do the stuff Jesus wanted them to do.
I do believe that the Christian God is real
OK. You are at a 3 (of 10) on the insanity scale. It's not ideal, but hey, it's 5 points below the average republican.
there is evidence that He was alive
Oh boy. You're up to a 5. What evidence?
The Bible even says that there was 500 witnesses that saw Jesus after He rose from the grave.
7!!!! Stop, srom. You're almost at the republican level. That is still only one witness. And by the way, the bible was written seven decades AFTER Jesus had died. None of the "witnesses" who wrote the bible were even alive to see what they supposedly witnessed.
Also the disciples and people who saw Him were eyewitnesses that saw Jesus.
And where are their accounts of the incident?
If this is true why is there only one book written about him not multiple people stating they have seen him the bible also says that there are multiple disciples why isn't there a book righten by them and why even say there is a god if your reading a bible because the bible dose nothing but contradict itself the ten commandments one is thou shallt not murder god wiped out the earth and entire city for his belief so in which Ca's he would be a hypocrite and a lier so there is and was no god.
The Bible even says that there was 500 witnesses that saw Jesus after He rose from the grave. Also the disciples and people who saw Him were eyewitnesses that saw Jesus.
How come NONE of these supposed 500 witnesses wrote about the event?
The disciples were eyewitnesses, but they didn't write the bible.
Please, do some research into the authorship of the bible - none of the authors (except perhaps Paul) ever knew Jesus - most weren't even alive when Christ was alive.
1. Define what Evil is to you, evil by definition is “Profound immorality, wickedness, and depravity, esp. when regarded as a supernatural force.” Or “morally reprehensible: sinful, wicked”. I being a Theist have no problem with there being evil but it just sounds strange coming from a non-believer. There is evil and there is also Satan these go hand in hand, with there being good and God.
2. Oh my ….the Razor, ok this little bit philosophy dates back to Occam in the 14th century and at best it is a rule of thumb, it is not some grand law by which anything is measured, thus God is not in “violation” of the Razor. It is a helpful tool to evaluate hypnosis nothing more. Really it was not Occam’s anything Aristotle came up with “Nature operates in the shortest way possible” this was long before Occam came along. It simply looks for simple, that’s it; Violation indeed.
3. I never said there were not any more gods just saying my God is the Lord who is the most high God there are others mentioned in the Bible, like this verse, 2 Corinthians 4:4 “In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.” The devil is referred to as a god "the god of this world" more than once.
44Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it.
45And because I tell you the truth, ye believe me not.
Or Exodus 12:12 “ For I will pass through the land of Egypt this night and will smite all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, both man and beast; and against all the gods of Egypt I will execute judgment: I am the LORD.”
Of course you have no reason to believe otherwise, it's an unfalsifiable proposition! 'I believe there is a flying turtle outside the universe and see no reason to make me believe otherwise'.
The question is what reasons do you have to believe it in the first place? That's how the burden of proof works, and that's what people ask when they actually care whether or not their beliefs are true.
Argument 1: Because the Bible says so.
Argument 2: Because the Church says so.
Argument 3: Because if science can explain how the world was created, it can only explains how matter was formed, but our souls, conscience, etc it needs a higher, perfect source.
Argument 4: Lavoisier rules states that in humanly activities, nothing is lost, nothing is gained, all is transformed. So at one time, in the very beginning , matter HAD to be created.
You're not serious, are you? Whatever.
Because the Bible says so.
The Bible also says that plants came before the sun. Do you believe that too? Regardless, using the Bible as proof for God is circular logic. See my argument disputing Srom at the top of the page.
Because the Church says so.
The Church gets its teachings from the Bible.
Because if science can explain how the world was created, it can only explains how matter was formed, but our souls, conscience, etc it needs a higher, perfect source.
There's no point leaping to the supernatural. It's like leaping off a cliff because you don't know what's down there.
Lavoisier rules states that in humanly activities, nothing is lost, nothing is gained, all is transformed. So at one time, in the very beginning , matter HAD to be created.
As I said, no leap to the supernatural is required.
Just remember situations when you felt something like magic, when you did something impossible! I think that everybody have felt the same feelings. And it was like Somebody magical wanted to help you. i think it is GOD!
If we pray from all our heart and soul, like magic our wishes can came true and after it we can feel God, his love and his heat!
Of coarse God is real. It is a sin not to believe in God. Jesus came to earth to prove God's existence. The Holy Bible gives you all the answers. God's gives people proof of his existence by giving people blessings and miracles. The ultimate prize for believing in God is eternal life in heaven. For all you non-believers out there you will go to hell. Its never to late to have your soul saved by God you non-believers can always repent and become believers of God and get eternal life in heaven. The choice is yours.
Absolutely not. By God, I'm assuming you mean the Judeo Christian God. You should put that in the question.
OK, so here's why I don't believe. The theist must prove that God exists, but also that it is their God. For example, a Christian must prove that the Christian God is true, and that all others are false. Unless they can do so, atheism or agnosticism is a more rational decision. And it seems that there is no proof that the Christian God is the true one.
Furthermore, the problem of evil severely lowers the chance of the Christian God existing. Reventon can and probably will do a better job than I at explaining it, so I'll leave that to him. But this problem is truly a monster for Christians today.
Finally, the universe seems to work fine without a God. We have grand theories of everything. They do not involve God. He is surplus to requirements, and a violation of Occam's Razor.
The only God I could possibly believe in would be a malevolent God. It would fit in quite nicely with society. Alas, this is not what most religions claim.
It would appear that Reventon is away, so it falls to me to explain the problem of evil. First the logical:
1. If God exists, then he is omniscient, omnipotent and omnibenevolent.
2. If God is omniscient, then he knows of all evil.
3. If God is omnipotent, he has the power to eliminate all evil.
4. If God is omnibenevolent, then he has the desire to eliminate all evil.
5. Evil exists.
6. There does not exist an omniscient, omnipotent, omnibenevolent being.
7. God does not exist.
And the evidential...
1. There exist instances of great suffering which an omnipotent, omniscient being could have prevented without sacrificing some greater good.
2. An omnibenevolent being would have the desire to eliminate this.
3. An omnipotent, omniscient, omnibenevolent being does not exist.
I don't believe that any god man has created in his mind is real. Nor do I think there is a chance of it.
I do believe that there may be something of a creator, but I don't believe it's a separate entity from the creation. Nor am I sure that it has a conscious like most gods seem to have.
There is no real evidence that He exists. A lot of scientific facts and theories could disprove several things mentioned in the bible. People who say God exists use circular reasoning to back it up. If God were real, then everything in the bible must be true, but is not true. Example is prayer: Every prayer is supposed to be answered, but if you were to pray to be able to fly, I highly doubt it would work. If God is omnipotent, then He shall be able to stop evil, but evil goes on everywhere in the world. Therefore God is not omnipotent. If God is able to stop evil, why would He have created hell for those who don't believe. Quite evil. All of this goes against several key points in the bible about the existence of God. Therefore, God does not exist.
the term real is a challenge in this question. When asking if something is real what does one mean? Usually it means - does it exist in the objective actual kind of subsistence. However for something to be real I believe that any kind of subsistence is the basic requirement and thus all things are real - just in different ways - the actual/objective and the subjective/transient. I do not think that god is real objectively but anyone would be hard pressed to say that god is not real in the minds of believers and also in the consequences that belief in god has insofar as the processes of our society and world are concerned - believers in the idea cause many good and bad things to happen.
God is real as an idea but this is the limit to the reality of god. God is not actual and does not exist independent of perception
I really dont know what to believe. I think that yes there is a higher power much more powerful then us. But i dont think there is a god who is controlling us and sin, and all that crap. And how if you dont believe in christan god that you will go to hell. That isnt right i mean seriously if they say that god is suppose to love us why on earth would he send us to hell if we dont. Free right to believe and he shouldnt send us to hell if we dont.
