Do you judge people when you find out their religious beliefs?

Yes

Yes, of course. What religion someone adheres to can tell you a lot about their character, their background, etc. when combined with a minimum of other facts about them.

In and of itself, knowing someone's religion doesn't tell you much, but if you know something about them concerning their background, job, attitude, etc then it can tell you a lot.

Take for instance the Christan, highly educated youth, well welcome to one side of suburbia and its values.

Take the atheistic hippy/country/suburbia boy(the ones that tend to live on the outskirts of town or in the older parts of it), you know family, friends and alcohol are pretty important to him. Really, what I'm doing is taking advantage of stereotypes, but not holding someone to them, to make predictions concerning them. Those prediction are often inaccurate to some degree but can also be surprisingly foretelling.

I wouldn't say that I "judge". I'm pretty good at reading people, and belief in either a religion or a deity does say a lot about how they think.

Although, I welcome different philosophical beliefs (unlike other asshole Atheists). To me, it makes philosophical conversations much more interesting. If the theist is a smart, logical being, we can learn a lot from each other. If the theist is an idiot... well, I love to spark controversy.

If someone told me that they are a Scientologist, I would definitely assume that they are crazy. Other than that, probably not.

Yeah, I made Scientology my exception in my argument .

Coo coo!

Oh yeah. Definitely a little whacky. .

I judge people by their actions as that tells more about them than anything else.

that would be a really silly thing to do to anyone. I don't care what religion they care for as long as they are not evil

I'm evil... do you judge me? LOL!

Side: No

Of course I don't! Why would I be so narrow-minded as to judge someone solely based on their belief/non-belief in something? It is entirely shallow.

Side: No

No, why should I? People can believe whatever they want as long as it doesn't negatively effect me.... having said that, if someone told me they were into Scientology... I might think they're a little nutty, but that's the only exception I can think of.

Dammit! I really need to read everyones arguments before I post mine. I said the same thing about Scientology lol.

It's cool dude... I saw your post before I saw this post... they are nuts. I had a week long back and forth with one once on another site.

No. As a general rule, I try not to judge anyone except on specific actions.*

I dont think its fair to judge someone by their religion alone.

You need to know someone before you just go labeling them off.

Everyone should be treated equal, cause we are equal right? We need to show some respect for another, and our diffrences. Thats what makes us who we are right?

As the old saying goes: "Don't judge a book by its cover...."

Religion today isn't the way it used to be.. It was more orthodox. People are ready to give up on a lot off their laws that they might find irrelevant. Whereas some follow only some of those things which they assume are for the good and give up others.

And it is stupid to judge a person's Goodness or badness on such basis.

Side: No

Do you judge people when you find out their religious beliefs?

No I do not judge because God is the judge.
