That's like asking;- do we need cops with footwear to respond to any suspected crime. Armed police carry guns as part of their everyday equipment and are meant to be regarded as personal protection weapons. The perpetrators of the crimes which you listed could all very well be armed and sufficiently dangerous/desperate to use their firearm/knife to avoid arrest. I'm certain that the hysterical Rayshard Brooks would have used a firearm if he'd had one. In such circumstances an officer must be able to respond to deadly force with deadly force. The problem lay with the police officer who could not control himself when under pressure. Not only did he discharge his firearm once but he did so at least twice. A gun in the holster of a self-disciplined and well trained police officer is of no more danger that one locked up in a cabinet. In today's crazy world of extremist international terrorists and resentful, violent blacks a PPW is an essential piece of equipment for all those involved in law enforcement. Although common sense should have made it clear that the most likely person to attack the building housing the British Government would be an armed terrorist(s). Nobody dead. Why didn't their liberal run city train their cops better or have them stand down?
