I just thought about it, and I know I have in the past, but I think it would be helpful to everyone involved with createdebate, from our overlords to the users, to be able to debate on changes to the site directly. I was originally thinking an IRC would be good because things could evolve at a much faster pace, but people are rarely on at the same time, or so it seems. Maybe IRC wouldn't be the way to go. If then, we had a section under debates called "Town Hall" where people went specifically for site issues, it would be a lot better. Then everyone could see what is being debated, there would be a lot more thought pored into the ideas, and everyone who cared would have a chance to get involved with the evolution of CD. Would people use the feature? Do people want to help CD, or are they fine with it the way it is? It's just an idea, let me know what you think. Side: Yes, (reason).
I think this is a great idea. The site, at least to me, still seems to be in the early-ish stages of beta, and there is still a lot of functionality that I personally feel it is missing.I've also thought about the bet medium to discuss updates to the site (especially as the site seem to be getting a good consistent user base now). I think your Town Hall idea is spot on. Side: Yes, (reason).
Ha, I've never been called an overlord before but I think I could probably get used to that. Seriously, I think your idea is spot on. Do you mean that you'd like to see a new debate category called "Town Hall" so that new debates relevant to site features, etc could be filed under it? Another option is build a chat room into the site for bi-weekly Town Hall chats. Which (or both) makes the most sense? Side: Yes, (reason).
Eh. I like the idea of normal debates because if you miss something, it's still there and you can still input info... if it's a chat room it's just whoever is there at any given time... The only way that would work ok is if there were an agreeable time for everyone to meet... but then I live in California, and some people here live in the U.K., which is like a 7 hour time difference. Will these be logged and archived? Is there a way to access archives here? I don't know, I just woke up. I'll bbl. Side: Yes, (reason).
