Yes I do. If I believed that the other persons policies, and beliefs were better and the correct ones, why would I have my own. I am speaking purely of political, and social beliefs however, not religious. With religion, believe whatever you want it is not my position to judge you on that. Side: yes

No. Through the course of an argument you should at least refine your argument as the other side points out the holes in your logic. For example, I proposed that the gay community come up with a word that would replace the word marriage but that would only apply to gay people. I called it a compromise. But then someone else suggested throwing the word marriage out all together and I realized that my solution means that the religious right would win. That's not fair. So now I think that the government should tell both groups, "Since you can't share, neither one of you gets the word." and then replace it with the words civil union for both gays and straights. I think that soccer16 and I worked it out in another debate, I don't remember where. But here's one where I proposed replacing the word marriage with civil union. But then again, I may have read it somewhere else. It was 23 days ago. I can't remember that far back. I don't even remember what I had for breakfast, and I don't even eat breakfast so .... Side: yes

Better? Certainly not! Different? Yes, certainly. Better is not mine to judge, that would be in someone else's mind or eyes. My beliefs are based on what I know at any given moment. If I change my beliefs it is because someone or something has added to the sum of my own knowledge. Peoples opinions or beliefs are always different in some ways and it's interesting to find out why. I think that sometimes you learn more from those who disagree with you than those who do. Side: No
You seem to believe that your tolerant position is better than an intolerant one. If you truly didn't find your own tolerance better, why wouldn't you just adopt intolerance some days, or decide whether to be tolerant or intolerant by flipping a coin. It would be all the same, after all. Let me put it another way. Let's say I strenuously disagree with you. Not only are my ideas better than other people's ideas, but anyone with different ideas is a heretic so offensive to God that he ought to be killed. Is this belief of mine inferior to the belief that other people's ideas should be respected? Side: yes

jeremiah, you may oppose my ideas all you wish but I clearly do not understand your reaction to being tolerant of others positions when needs be. I'm not talking about people believing in or acting out a baby sacrifice! I shouldn't think I would repect an idea like that. I would argue it but eventually pass it off as a belief of demented mind! I'm talking about people with solid thoughts, positions and ideas that fall within the parameters of some accepted normalcy. If I thought my beliefs were better than everyone else's I should never learn another thing the rest of my life. That's arrogance! Side: No
