Do you trust the police?

I get the impression that the police in the USA has a really bad reputation...
I would love to hear your opinions about it.

I can trust them to have bad listening comprehension 90% of the time.

I can trust them to finish their doughnuts first then head to the crime scene.

I can trust them to arrest the wrong niggas.

I can trust that they'll shoot the wrong niggas.

People just dislike the police because the people break the law and get caught....

Learn how to break the law and use the police, because it makes it easier to break the law and get away with it.

Not disputing you, but "people dislike the police because the people break the law and get caught?" That is not the reason, as if we see what they do is the problem why they dislike the cops, such as police brutality in general.

That is by definition, a dispute, sir or madman.

But there's no point in debating this if there are't any statistics presented.

Side: Yeah

I do, however I live in Denmark, so I actually have a reason to .

I feel that they can be trusted further than most other national police forces worldwide. In common with their international contemporaries the law enforcers of the United States will have individuals within their ranks whose standard of conduct will fall short of what is expected of them. In that context it would wholly wrong and grossly unfair to condemn an entire police force as a consequence of a few rogue mavericks. Certain ethnic groups are responsible for a disproportionate % of crimes, especially crimes of violence, then shout ''racism'' when they are policed more vigorously than those from a cultural background which statistically shows them to be more law abiding. The almost unequaled ethnic diversity of the United States means that being police officer is akin to walking trough a legal minefield while having to keep a wary eye on the violent jungle of ''cop hating'' criminals. We should be genuinely thankful to have a police force which strives to enforce the law impartially and without fear of favour.

The question is not that if you think that the police is better in the USA than in other countries (that isn't so hard), but if you trust them.

I stated my opinion that I felt they could be ''TRUSTED'' further, not ''BETTER'', than most other global police forces. This should be interpreted as a qualified yes. I use the term qualified as I recognize that there will be some officers who will be corrupt and prejudiced. Whilst they're very much in the minority it is usually incidences involving such members that the media take delight in reporting. All the other 99% of the good work done by our honest police officers every day goes unreported. I don't think I used the word ''BETTER'' anywhere in my text. The thread is quite wide ranging and covers a lot of ground. If the question had been more specific, such as, ''do you trust the police to discharge their duties fairly and evenhandedly'' then the answer would have been, in the vast majority of cases, yes. Or, ''do you think the police are prejudiced or biased''? To that I would have answered;- any prejudice or bias existing in a tiny minority of officers is neutralized and eclipsed by their professionalism and training.

Is this really your experience of police officers? Generally my view is that they are people that enjoy beating people up and want to do it legally.

Any more the police are very self serving. Look at the thousands of the cases each year of police seizures of money where the people were never charged or convicted of a crime. It has been my experience that the state police where I live are more worried about making money by giving tickets for stupid things like no seatbelt or a license plate light out than keeping people safe.
