Does Google have too much power over private lives?

I would not say it has 'too much' power, however, Google has power no matter what one says.

I)Google has acquired over 100 companies in its short history including YouTube, Motorolla, ad, network, and design website. Not to mention all the high-term contracts that Google has with Apple, Facebook, Windows, and most 'G' cell-phone networks to name a few. With these mergers, acquisitions, and high-term partnerships, yes, Google does have a sh*t load of power; most search engines, are run through google. The technology of these engines are shared with other engines that are probably on your piece of technology.

II) Weither you "choose" to sign up for a Google account or not, you private life is affected. Google maps, googles search engine, googles stats, google instruments and tools in general are more than enough to find you, your family, your place of business, if one really wanted to get hold of that information.

III) This being said, if Google's economy where to ever collapse your priviate life would collapse. It would be the equivalent to a very large country collapsing.

These are just some of the argument against the opposing view point. However, I do not think Google is a bad thing, it has improved life, technologically speaking, time and time again. I will not go into the nearly infinite reasons why, I will just say the pros most likely outweigh the cons.

Anything over the Internet is not private, thus Google has now power over our private lives. That being said, Google has omniscient power over our Internet lives.

Google has no power over private lives if you don't join gmail. Just seriously use google not gmail account and all that..

If you join gmail.

Put a fake phone number.. (google it)

This could help you with your private life

Side: No

Google has absolutely no power over anyone, joining Google is completely voluntary along with agreeing with the terms of use.

Power is A's ability to make B do something they would otherwise not have done. Every living person and legal corporation has power.

Not at all. Google doesn't have too much power over private lives. I wonder what kind of google app could infiltrate someone's private life. I don't suppose any app exist in terms of any breach.

Google does not have any power over our private lives. That is because nothing on the Internet is private.

Yeah... like the other day I was really hung over and was going to call in sick from work, but Google wouldn't let me. Wait? No, that's not right? No! Google doesn't have too much control over my life.
