Does anyone "deserve" death?

According to the Universal Declaration of Human Rights "Everyone has the right to life, liberty and security of person," and this, along with other human rights, are considered "unalienable." However, the death penalty still exists in many countries and US states as punishments for serious crimes, such as serial murder. Yet, no matter the crime, human life is undoubtedly the most valuable thing we've got, and the idea that losing such a thing is justified goes against the rights outlined in the UDHR. Is there any scenario where a person SHOULD be killed? (Reminder: Jokes about assassinating prominent political figures or disliked celebrities are not constructive or at all necessary.)

If you just mass killed 100,000 people, if you are killed as your punishment, tough sh*t.

Only those who force themselves to grab the ability to enable his nation or tribe to live longer don't deserve death. All people that live for happiness, enjoyment and so on deserve death very much. Why should a country give supplies to the 'not-useful-to-the-country' ones? It's a waste of supplies. We develop because we have to be mighty and advanced and thus being more competitive and - as disasters are always ready to occur - have a greater probability to live. That's why we should manage to pay the least supplies to gain the most. Some 'uncompetitive' have to be killed to progress the society faster.

For your debate title, yes. Everyone deserves death. What no one deserves is immortality, unless they can get it.

However, in the description, you seem to mean death penalty. Though it's now much more painless than it used to be, it's just an alternative to life imprisonment. You'd be gone from the world either way, so there isn't much difference.

To say 'deserve' would be perspective of the individual, as we all can see many believe that others 'deserve' death for a variety of contradictory reasons.

To say someone doesn't 'deserve' death would fall under the same personal reasoning.

No one 'deserve's' death only people believe them to...Who is to say you are right?

Then again, who is to say you are wrong?

You.

No, the scientists should be working flat out around the clock to develop a cure for death.

My opinion would be that there are many 100s of 1000s who do not deserve to live.

My list would include murderers, rapists, pedphiles, terrorists and war mongers.

If these types of people were exterminated as they were identified the world would be a much better place.
