I hate it when people say "the government" as though it's some kind of monster lurking in the shadows. It's not. It's just a collection of individual people like you or me. And yes, individuals sometimes lie. But if an elected official gets caught lying he will have a hard time getting re-elected. See Clinton, Nixon. Side: Individuals lie

If some of my debates seem strange, the purpose is, before CreateDebate, I was arguing with my family and many of them expected the rest to be amazed that the government lies. classified documents exist because, if every strategy, every plan, and every move are government made or was planing to do was also exposed to the public, we would be a communist country right now. secret documents are to keep us and are country safe. if they weren't secret, some American, who was really a terrorist could just read the document and know how to respond to it. as for hiding the truth from us on some subjects is not lying, if i have a secret, and i don't tell you, am i lying? i don't think so. as for the government being to militarized, is bull spit. the government's sole purpose is to protect are freedoms, that requires a military to do so. and last time i checked, were still in a democracy, and i don't mps patrolling are street looking for people who have different political views then the government. so i fail to see how we've become "militarized". Actually, that's the only argument anyone on your side of the debate has with regards to classified documents. It's not even close to an answer regarding (both still classified and de-classified) documents pertaining to remote viewing, cold-war psychic warfare, ufo technology, fluoridation of the american water supply, watergate, bush lying across the board, I could go on for ever. You don't have a case here. - if i have a secret, and i don't tell you, am i lying? If you answer to me, you bet your ass it's lying. If a private in the army has a secret regarding the military, and he doesn't tell his sergeant because "he doesn't have to tell secrets" he'd be beaten and dishonorably discharged. You look at it differently because it's the military lying to us, but you can't have it both ways. If we lived in a democracy both political parties wouldn't have the same agenda. The absence of mobs running through the streets doesn't mean we live in a democracy. The "mobs" are what I consider decent american citizens. I don't have an issue with american people. just like you, I think that almost everyone is a decent human being. Your interested in the truth, you're only debating because you think I'm wrong, not because you're an evil person. But I do think that evil people with money have been infiltrating the u.s. for decades now. If you were a "terrorist" and you wanted to bomb the u.s., would you show up on a plane wearing a turban? No, you would drape the american flag around you and walk in on the fourth of july with sparklers between your fingers. He will NOT pull of out of the Middle East Iraq Afghanistan or whatever the hell the country may be there UNTIL he/the Government has established a Military base there. Since we do have a foothold in the Middle East yet. That is all this war is about it's not about ridding the "Terrorist" it's about putting in a military base so we have control in that part of the world NO other reason.
