In a word, NO!. I have no "desire" to be a leftist, it just comes naturally. I have a desire to bring the country together, to shut down racism, to accept women as equals, to have affordable medical care for all, to do away with poverty, to have freedom of religion ... or none, to treat our friends and allies better than we treat our enemies, to help others in the world when they need it, to protect the environment, especially clean water and air, etc., etc..
There are a LOT of reasons to BE a leftist. If you ARE one, there's still a lot to be desired but BEING one, well, that's not a "desire", that's just a fact. I know, I know .... to a "rightist" FACT is a four-letter word .... how dumb can THEY be?? ;-)

It looks like the left thinks buildings are sexist because they look like penises that are about to erupt, eh Al? And not only do they think that, their outlet thought it was important enough to broadcast it to the masses. Ladies and gentlemen, destroy the skyscrapers. Why? Alas, Al has a raging, sexist, mysogynistic hard on that could be mistaken for the Sears Tower acting as Krakatoa because leftism.
Please don't feel sorry for me. I was "out and about" for many years in 47 states and 15 countries. I've seen my share of erotica, ;-), it's just that symbols of male genitalia never turned me on. If that's what YOU find "erotical", well, to each his own I always said. The distance between a phallic building and MY type of erotica ... is a fur piece, ya might say. (truly YOUR loss ;-)!

You cannot resist racism, sexism, and classism while bringing together a country that fosters and depends upon them; tolerance and healing are either a privilege of the oppressor or a weakness of the oppressed.
Freedom of religion cannot seriously be among your priorities... in the states, of all places.
Codifying in-groups (friends) and out-groups (enemies) with the express intention of treating them differently is an explicit contradiction to your notion of bringing people together, though at least it's headed in a stronger direction.
You've identified some things that are popularly associated with people viewed as leftists, but not a single reason to be a leftist. Even if these are things a person values, that valuation is enough... 'elevating' them through ideology just cheapens them.
Obviously it wasn't obvious to them which is why I pointed it out.
I'm not going to vote against those things because I cannot vote against them. There is literally no candidate who is not a racist, sexist, classist piece of fascist shit. Even if there were, I wouldn't vote for them because I don't defer the responsibility of my liberty to anyone else. My commitments are to everyday praxis and substantive action instead of inconsequential gestures.
