You can die for your country at 18 but you can't buy a beer?! That sucks! Wouldn't it be nice to allow soldiers to drink while they are on base?

Yah that's just great lets go shoot some terrorists drunk.

Man, if my ass is getting shot at, I deserve some hooch. They're on the front line protecting your rights and your ass so the least you can do is let them have an occasional beer.

So you want them to be drunk and get shot at great idea. Even on base they need to always be ready for battle.

Because one beer has a man stumbling all over the place. Yeah, okay. Great logic.

I believe that the intent was drinking on a normal base and not a forward deployed base. Having a beer at camp Lejeune or little creek at the age of 18 is fine, getting drunk in Kandahar is not a good idea.

Military on base, sure. however, we should extend the privilege to all high school graduates under twenty-one. If you're smart enough to graduate, then you should be able to drink. If you're willing to sacrifice your life for your country, you should also be allowed to drink.

yes i support this 100% because ifyou can get shot at,taking on a risk of getting killed, you most defiently able to drink alcohol on base what is it hurting any one else

At least at Marine bases... (because I support the troops ;P) it really doesn't matter. The older guys just buy for the younger guys.

It's not necessary.

The drinking age is 21 for a reason, military or not. The issue with the military drinking is that their job is "supposedly" 24/7. They can be called at any given moment to do some mission and if they're drunk, they're screwed. Plus, getting caught with just one DUI in the military is a BIG no-no; you can be kicked out. Although, at least the base my husband is at, the base lacks a shitload of integrity and it's pretty disappointing (to me) so tons of Airmen get away with breaking the rules. So, I say they leave the drinking age at 21 so that the military newcomers have at least a few more years to grow a sense of responsibility because, from my observations, the military, especially the younger ones under like, 30, are more desperate to break rules and do stupid stuff than the average teenager is.

No body in the military should be drinking while on duty. Even if they are on base they need to be at the top of there game incase something happens.

Yes. Lets allow the people with machine guns to have alcohol. Guns and alcohol is always a good combination.

Side: No

The drinking age should remain at 21 regardless of the location.
