Military on base, sure. however, we should extend the privilege to all high school graduates under twenty-one. If you're smart enough to graduate, then you should be able to drink. If you're willing to sacrifice your life for your country, you should also be allowed to drink. Side: yes

The drinking age is 21 for a reason, military or not. The issue with the military drinking is that their job is "supposedly" 24/7. They can be called at any given moment to do some mission and if they're drunk, they're screwed. Plus, getting caught with just one DUI in the military is a BIG no-no; you can be kicked out. Although, at least the base my husband is at, the base lacks a shitload of integrity and it's pretty disappointing (to me) so tons of Airmen get away with breaking the rules. So, I say they leave the drinking age at 21 so that the military newcomers have at least a few more years to grow a sense of responsibility because, from my observations, the military, especially the younger ones under like, 30, are more desperate to break rules and do stupid stuff than the average teenager is.
