COVID created geographical and time barriers to education. Technology can be used to maintain learning innovative way. This crisis has given us an opportunity to disclose unexposed areas of technology-based medical education. All institutions were not equipped with infrastructure in terms of sufficient classrooms, faculty, and other academic resources. Online learning can bridge the gap and strengthen the quality of medical education as it is flexible and adaptable. The competency-based medical education document of the Medical Council of India (2018) has recognized the importance of the technology. It has included electronic means in the broad competency “Lifelong learner” committed to continuous improvement of skills and knowledge. Now it is time for adapting to the new virtual world till we get back to physically being available in our institutions again.

The Corona pandemic has pushed the population of the world into unprecedented catastrophy dirsupting the regular rythm of education making the students and professors homebound in lockdown, but the world has to move along and find the silver lining, medical education is no difference, we have to find a way to come out of it and focus on medical education as doctors are corona worriors on the battlefield

I propose e learning to tackle the lack of human contact and interaction in medical education.

1. E-learning is a new norm and effective in certain way to convet theorotical knowledge to students at their door step

2. The younger generation is tech-savy and competent to follow the e-platform

3. In E-learning there are different modules which can be utilised to impart the specific lteaching & learning techniques

4. Its a ray of hope where learning never stops and knowledge disposal is there round the clock

5. Students require interaction and confidence building in these tough times through e-learning

6. E-learning is fruitful at least in this lockdown if not in future, it maintains the momentum

7. ACME online workshop for both 2020 B & 2021 A batches is a great example of e-learning and learning should never stop

• Thanks to technology, e-learning is now made possible. Many students worldwide can now access all kinds of courses online without leaving the comfort of their homes. They are given opportunities to learn from competent educators and interact with other students from different locations.

• Advantages of E-learning

• 1. Saves time and money

• One of the most obvious advantages of e-learning is that you can save time and money. You can manage your schedule and take online courses at your most convenient time, whether early in the morning, late afternoon, or evening. You save money, too, because you don’t have to pay for transportation or worry about eating on the go.

• 2. Better retention

• E-learning makes use of different platforms like Pedagogue, which provides interactive content. Also, you can share your thoughts and opinions with others. The more engaging the lessons, the more students can remember the information.

• 3. Personalized learning

• You can choose your learning path and study at your own pace. You become more motivated and invested in the course.

• 4. Cost-effective

• Students aren’t the only ones that can save money in e-learning. Many educational institutions save money through this set-up because there’s no need to use a physical classroom, which translates to reduced monetary spending.

• 5. Environment-friendly

• E-learning is also more environmentally friendly because it doesn’t contribute to the pollution brought about by paper production

The students belong to the internet generation where they are already into E-learning through online coaching, online examinations before entering into medical education.

Online teaching is the correct choice in the present situation amid lockdowns and need to maintain social distancing.

Even though it is new to some faculty they can be trained through FDP(faculty development programs)and also have access to various LMS software.

In E-learning the learners have control over the content, learning sequence, pace of learning and time.

E-learning is flexible, cost effective and convenient.

NMC advocates self directed learning in Andragogy and E-learning is instrumental in promoting SDL.

One can make use of various learning platforms as VLE (virtual learning environments),video streaming services, visual instructor-lead training (VILT),Discussion boards, Forums, Podcasts for CBL,WPBL, interactive learning.

Through web- based OSCE and video technology the performance based skills as decision making can be taught and evaluated.

E- learning creates opportunities for critical thinking and encourages them to reexamine their beliefs and attitudes thus making them more willing to accept and imbibe the content.

The availability of 4G internet at low cost had made online teaching accessible to students from remote areas.

The teachers can prepare their own teaching module to meet their objectives using LMS.

They can evaluate competencies through online assessments, give feedback to the students for self improvement.

We are conducting online sessions for our students since 1 year and are having a positive response from them.

In this era of Artificial Intelligence and robotic surgeries we need to make the teachers and students efficient in using the online techniques and E-learning is the best way to begin with.

Respected DOME faculty and co-learners,I am hereby rebut to statement made by

Dr. Umesh Ramadurg - "Lack of flexibility:

E-learning can be great for learning specific skills and for knowledge that needs to be transferred. However, with more complex skills and competencies, it is more difficult to put together an effective e-learning programme."

I hereby submit my views:

1. E-learning is seen as a catalyst for applying adult learning theory, thus many medical educators are taking on the role of facilitator and assessor of competency.

2. It encourages medical students to exert greater control over their learning by allowing flexibility over content and pace.

3. Educators can evaluate competencies objectively through online assessments, enabling students to receive personalized feedback for self-improvement.

4. It can foster self-directed learning.

5. Technology is a tool for deeper learning, and learning experiences beyond lecture-based learning. With the emergence of students who have grown up with technology, e-learning may increase.

6. In an era of value for money, e-learning offers an opportunity to disseminate the experience of clinicians to a wide audience.

I propose E learning for the following reasons in view of current COVID-19 pandemic

1. Flexibility and ease of access: E-learning is not fixed or time bound to a particular schedule and is very easily accessible, so learners can choose a place and time of their own liking. Teachers can also update and edit the learning material at their own convenience. The accessibility of the content via small size of the gadgets, mostly hand-held, also complements this feature.

2. Cosmopolitan nature: E-learning has been found to be useful in remote and rural areas as well. The participants may actually belong to any part of the globe. Rare cases and diseases peculiar to a particular geographical area can also be studied globally.

3. Time-saving: More number of students can be taken up at same time, thereby reducing the time needed for total lectures. The content once made is eternal, and can be revisited any number of times. The saved time in preparing lectures can be used by the teachers to develop their higher level of cognitive e-learning .

4. Stop-gap arrangement: E-learning can be used to hone the skills before actually encountering the real patient. This decreases the probability of error and also saves time. This allows repetition, and thereby improvement in the desired skills.

5. Adult learning principles: E-learning helps in deeper learning, increases self-motivation, and fulfils the adult learning principles. It also allows the participants to set their own pace as per their learning styles and can be used as best suited tool for personalized and interactive e-learning experience. It is tailored to student’s needs and is learner-centered, thus helping in self-directed learning.

6. Uniformity: Since identical information is posted to all the participants, the curricula uniformity is maintained across the learners. The students posted in off-site campuses also receive identical inputs. This helps in the uniform attainment of learning objectives because of equal availability of quality and quantity of information dispersed.

"E-Learning: educational norm in COVID times":

I, Dr.Pramod Rangasubhe from Group Bloom Proposing E-Learning:

The integration of e-learning into existing medical curricula should be the result of a well-devised plan that begins with a needs assessment and concludes with the decision to use e-learning, Kern (1998).

Clearly, e-learning will quickly grow in all areas of medicine. Not only will it play a major role in medical universities, most likely in the form of blended learning, but it will also become a key element in post-graduate training.

The reasons why I propose for E-Learning are:

• Flexibility and ease of access: During this current situation of Covid pandemic, where all Universities have recommended for Online teaching, it makes teachers and Learners to use this format of teaching-learning mode flexible and easy to access. E-learning is not fixed or time bound to a particular schedule and is very easily accessible, so learners can choose a place and time of their own liking. Teachers can also update and edit the learning material at their own convenience. The accessibility of the content via small size of the gadgets, mostly hand-held, also complements this feature.

• Cosmopolitan nature: E-learning is sans frontiers, and this has been found to be useful in remote and rural areas as well. All they need will be a Mobile and Internet connectivity. The participants may actually belong to any part of the globe.

• Time-saving: More number of students can be taken up at same time, thereby reducing the time needed for total lectures. The content once made is eternal, and can be revisited any number of times. The saved time in preparing lectures can be used by the teachers to hone their higher level of cognitive e-learning.

The COVID-19 pandemic has disrupted the routine learning

schedule of the day-scholars. Due to COVID-19 lockdown

across the globe, the active hours the day-scholars that they

would be spending in their college for learning is being spent at

home which means they are left behind their routine learning

activities. These online active teaching-learning and

engagement strategies, if applied for teaching, learning and

assessment purposes will help our learners to continuously

involve themselves in the learning process and will also foster

good study habits in them without compromising their

professional attitudes. All these require faculty involvement,

identification of appropriate digital learning platforms,

designing of educational activities and proper planning and

scheduling of activities based on the proposed learning

experiences and expected learning outcomes. Though

technology cannot fully substitute a good teaching or a teacher

it can be used as an effective tool for actively engaging the

students who would otherwise be missing their routine classes

due to any unprecedented disaster like COVID-19. These

strategies will not only help the students of medical colleges

but also all higher education institutions to effectively

overcome the educational crisis that emerges at times of

situation like lockdown due to public health emergencies or any

Many countries are continuing to handle this disruption by deploying different modes of learning through a mix of technologies.

In almost all countries, teachers and administrators are encouraged to continue the communication with learners by delivering virtual live lessons or Massive Open Online Course (MOOC)-styled ones.

Online education, a result of the digital world has brought a lot to the learning table at all levels of education, beginning from preschool up to higher level institutions. The move to remote learning has been enabled by several online tech stack such as Google Classroom, Blackboard, Zoom and Microsoft Teams, all of which play an important role in this transformation. With the development of ICT in education, online video-based micro-courses, e-books, simulations, models, graphics, animations, quizzes, games, and e-notes are making learning more accessible, engaging, and contextualized.

Medical Schools have always considered educational apps or digital learning as a supplementary tool and may have had difficulty in mainstreaming it, mostly due to not having fully understood its efficacy. However, the current situation has given us a fillip to accelerate the adoption of technology and experiment with online learning and measure its success.

As the digital learning acceleration continues, it also throws light on the digital divide in India. Students from remote districts and those belonging to poor communities lack the infrastructure and the means to reap the benefits of online learning.

1. The present generation of students have been immersed in technology all their lives, imbuing them with sophisticated technical skills and learning preferences.

2. A key advantage of e-learning is that learners have control over the content, learning sequence, pace of learning, time and, often, media offering choices to suit different learning styles.

3. Some studies have shown that students learn more and quicker when computers are used, and many of the students prefer computer-aided learning packages compared to just using a textbook.

4. On the basis of sophisticated cost analysis, it has been shown that e-learning can result in significant cost-savings, compared with traditional instructor-led learning.

5. Studies in both medical and nonmedical literature have consistently demonstrated that students are very satisfied with e-learning. Satisfaction rates increase with e-learning compared to traditional learning, along with perceived ease of use and access, navigation, interactivity, and user-friendly interface design.

I Dr.Veena .M support the concept of teaching and learning on an online platform fro various reasons like.

1. 22nd century is the era of technology and technology has replaced humans in many different fields. So moving with the flow, we need to move on from traditional teaching- learning to technology driven teaching-learning.

2. Learner can pace his learning. He can choose to be a part of synchronous or asynchronous paltform.

3.E-learning involves digitalization of facts and concepts which could be more impressive than the traditional mode. Learner can understand and comprehend the concepts in a better way.

4. Complicated concepts when taught in 3D mode which is much more understandable than any other modes of understanding the concepts.

5. This modality of learning doesn't need more logistics except for Computer and internet access . Access to technology has become a norm now and operating computers are taught from kindergarten level only. So most of our undergraduates are tech savvy compared to our generation.

6. E-learning could have multiple modules of the same concept with huge data base.

7. It can reach out to huge number of people in one go.

8.Learner can visit and revisit the sites any number of times he wants without any restrictions. This would be like reinforcing the information.

9. Learning can be customized in terms of time and place as well content.

10. Information can be accessed and relay from any corner of the world. It goes beyond the barriers of traditional teaching-learning modes.

COVID 19 has taught us many new things in life and has given us the opportunity to explore more. Elearning is one such area which emerged as a rescue to the entire era of education. Teachers learnt the art of virtual classrooms and students learnt inspite of not being in classrooms. if not for elearning the education of all students across all courses would have come to a halt . This crisismad the new technology accepted by organizations that were previously resistant to adapt. This was a difficult time for the educational sectors to deal with the current situation; professional education, particularly medical education, was more challenging. The forced shift to online education is a moment of change and a time to reimagine how education could be delivered

Thread 1.2 E-Learning debate Dr Sachidananda Adiga_ Batch 2021 A

We are in a peculiar scenario in that pandemic is posing a relentless threat to the entire world. Each and every sector has been affected. The educational sector is not an exception. This problem has been greatly handled by e-learning. It has been evidenced by the data that there is an increase from 15% to 60% in the growth of e- learning. This is the need of the hour since it is serving two purposes. It is contributing significantly to reduce the community spread of COVID infection among the educational institute. It is also not far behind in imparting the educational activity to the needy. Educational institutions began providing most of their services online, including lecturers and different assessments via several platforms.

The published literature has shown that technology management, support from management, increased student awareness to use E-learning systems, and demanding a high level of information technology from instructors, students, and universities were the most influential factors for E-learning during COVID-19 (Ammar YA)

Need for E- Learning In the field of medicine: During the COVID-19 pandemic, most educational institutions have shifted to online education from traditional modes of education to protect their employees and students. Even though it happened in the initial stages with reluctance from both students and teachers, now it has become the order of the day. The rapid changes the pandemic has brought in, online education has been gaining momentum in almost all countries around the world. This coincides with the recently introduced competency-based medical education in India which has embraced online education. This poses a new challenge for the institutions involved, the instructors or teachers, and the students since they must adapt quickly to the new mode of learning. Online education requires teachers to improve their competency in three major areas; pedagogy, technology, and content knowledge. Some of the challenges include; lack of technological skill, poor time management and lack of infrastructure. As technology rapidly advances, health care education systems must also advance in tandem. To implement the new competency-based system and online education, the institutions and the individuals must realize the importance of online education, identify the barriers and quickly work on solutions for success. It is also referred to as a technology-enabled transfer of skills and knowledge to a large number of recipients. An online class is a system where students can learn subjects with help from internet-oriented technologies. Also to add this increase in the COVID pandemic worldwide has also added to the importance of online classes,so I am in favour of e-learning because of following 16 reasons

1.Costs less

2.Comfort at home

3.Rare Case scenarios can be discussed through videos

4.Easy feedback

5.Online assessment through google forms, online quizzes and exams and get your score immediately

6.Flexibility in learning

I would like to share two documents from NMC in support of E-Learning:

1. Validity of online classes - https://www.nmc.org.in/MCIRest/open/getDocument?path=/Documents/Public/Portal/LatestNews/Validity of online classes.pdf

This article also states that online theory classes are required to be supplemented by practical and clinical training as per current curriculum in all MBBS subjects as and when Colleges reopen. I assume that this answers to Opposer's queries, E-learning is supplementation to regular teaching.

2. Module 8 Online Learning and Assessment - https://www.nmc.org.in/MCIRest/open/getDocument?path=/Documents/Public/Portal/LatestNews/Module-8-Online-learning-and-assessment- 17-11-20-version-final-for-uploading-converted.pdf

Gist of this module: Online learning has been reported to be as

effective as didactic teaching. It can also be instrumental in promoting self-directed

The global COVID-19 pandemic has triggered new ways of conducting the teaching-learning process online. For some this has been a small move but for others, this is a completely new way of education. Most nations have already initiated e-learning in their schools. Many schools in India have also adapted to the new normal of e-learning with varying degrees of success. Many progressive schools had already done a lot for the adoption of technology in their schools, which helped in quickly transitioning to a completely online delivery of teaching during the current crisis and with significant success. A recent survey conducted by us showed that more than 92% of students and parents were happy with the online delivery of lessons.

With the advent of Covid19, e-learning seems to be one of the safest and easiest ways to impart education for acquiring new skills, explore new career options, or for that matter new hobby development. E-learning is now applicable not only to learn academics but also to conduct extra-curricular activities for students, informative online sessions, online conferences, and webinars. The demand for e-learning has risen significantly and will continue doing so as society starts adapting to ‘social distancing’ post this pandemic.

As with most teaching methods, e-learning also has its positives and negatives. Understanding these will help in creating strategies for more efficient delivery of the lessons and measuring its effectiveness.

Here are some, pros…

Advantages:

• Efficiency – E-learning offers a very efficient way to deliver lessons. Use of videos, sharing of resource links, serving assessment tests can all be done at the click of a button. Additionally, the lectures can be recorded and shared for reference with a wide range of audiences. It also allows for a much larger set of children to be taught.

• Affordability – E-learning is far more affordable as compared to physical learning. E-learning primarily eliminates 2 major cost points – real estate and transportation. The course or study material is all available online and you can access it as many times as you want.

• Less absenteeism – There are fewer chances of students missing out on classes, as they can access easily anytime from the comfort of their home.

• Increased Access & Reach – E-learning can happen in any place, as long as there is a device and connectivity. A physical class requires the student to come to school but in this mode, the student can access lessons sitting anywhere in the world.

• Encourages shy kids – We have seen that many children who are usually withdrawn in a class environment, open up in the online classes. They are far more forthcoming with their questions and participation. This could be because of a comfortable home environment.

There are cons…but compared to the pros they should be overlooked in this pandemic.

• E-learning is innovative and the need of the hour, especially during the COVID times when academics are being affected for an extended period.

• Students of the present generation are well versed with the use of technology. They can handle it and are at best to utilize it for productive works such as learning.

• Even though the students are away from the institutes, they can still learn the subjects and be in touch with the teachers.,

• Teachers are also learning the technology rapidly, including our elite senior teachers, who have been accustomed to conventional teaching for decades.

• The E-learning methods foster the attitude and practice of adult learning by making the students learn independently under the teacher's guidance. If the students were not forced into this situation by the pandemic, they would be very callous about adult learning even though we have been trying to instil them into them for a long time.

• E-learning has shown the students and faculty the vast options of interactive teaching-learning methods, making it effective.

e learning is another useful tool in the teaching toolbox.

It is not a panacea but neither should it be dismissed as a passing ‘‘fad’’.

Just like non-electronic teaching methods it has its strengths and weaknesses (one would rarely use a lecture to teach a surgeon to operate or a number of parallel small group tutorials to give a standardised overview of a subject).

Some learners find it useful, some less so, just as some learners enjoy interactivity and some prefer a more passive approach.

As with most teaching modalities, deep rather than superficial learners appear to enjoy the greatest benefit.

A number of studies show positive learner perceptions.

Comparison with more ‘‘traditional’’ teaching is unhelpful.

The future is to look at what elearning can do and use it to its strengths; elearning is good for ‘‘just in time learning’’ and ‘‘just for me’’ (‘‘in my own time’’) learning,

It crosses geographical boundaries and time zones and provides access for the learner to a wealth of resources beyond those which he or she can easily access in his or her home institution.

The challenge for teachers is to fill data repositories with useful, accessible RLOs (Reusable Learning Objectives) and help learners access the full richness of the medium.

1. E-learning technologies offer educators a new paradigm based on adult learning theory, which states that adults learn by relating new learning to past experiences, by linking learning to specific needs, and by practically applying learning, resulting in more effective and efficient learning experiences.

2.E- Learning enhancement permits greater learner interactivity and promotes learners' efficiency, motivation, cognitive effectiveness, and flexibility of learning style.

3.E-Learning is a deeply personal experience: we learn because we want to learn. By enabling learners to be more active participants, a well-designed e-learning experience can motivate them to become more engaged with the content. Interactive learning shifts the focus from a passive, teacher-centered model to one that is active and learner-centered, offering a stronger learning stimulus. Interactivity helps to maintain the learner's interest and provides a means for individual practice and reinforcement. 4.Evidence suggests that e-learning is more efficient because learners gain knowledge, skills, and attitudes faster than through traditional instructor-led methods. This efficiency is likely to translate into improved motivation and performance. E-learners have demonstrated increased retention rates and better utilization of content, resulting in better achievement of knowledge, skills, and attitudes.

5.Multimedia e-learning offers learners the flexibility to select from a large menu of media options to accommodate their diverse learning styles.

5 A’s of e-learning in medical education, which can be summarized as follows:

Analytics: E-learning platforms gather detailed information about students’ learning activities and performance over time, giving an evidence base to inform the most effective use of technology in instruction.

Access: Anytime, anywhere. Students don’t have to wait for the library to open or to see a tutor.

Adaptivity: E-learning applications can respond and adjust to each student. Customized instruction is possible, arguably more so than in traditional education, driven by ongoing evaluation of performance.

Assessment: Technology gives us new methods of assessing learners over time and in more detail.

Agility: E-learning technology enables instructors to implement new curricula quickly, update them rapidly, and connect students and teachers in new ways.

2. Various studies report that students prefer e-learning as a supplemental tool rather than replacement one.

3. Teachers perceive that e-learning saves time in editing and updating of content, setting-up laboratory equipment and repeating the experiments, which could be utilized for face-to-face classes. They also do not have to worry about variation in content delivery.

4. The less tech-savvy generation of teachers consider imposition of e-learning as an additional burden because they think it is less worthy, have time-constraints in

developing the content, and have lack of confidence in meeting the technical demands.

ADVANTAGES OF E-LEARNING:

2. Cosmopolitan nature: E-learning is sans frontiers, and this has been found to be useful in remote and rural areas as well.

The saved time in preparing lectures can be used by the teachers to hone their higher level of cognitive e-learning.

It is tailored to student’s needs and

is learner-centered, thus helping in self-directed learning.

6. Uniformity: Since identical information is posted to all the participants, the curricula uniformity is maintained across the learners. The students posted in off-site campuses also receive identical inputs. This helps in the uniform attainment of learning objectives because of equal availability of quality and quantity of information dispersed.

Debate on “E-Learning: Educational norm in Covid Times”

COVID-19 had a tremendous change in the educational sector in India. The Indian government and different education participants have discussed the possibility of e-learning by adopting different digital technologies to handle current COVID-19 circumstances

As a result, education has changed dramatically, with the distinctive rise of e-learning, whereby teaching is undertaken remotely and on digital platforms.

The online teaching method needs only reliable internet connectivity and a laptop or smartphones as necessary. Also, students do not have to move from one place to another, so the traveling time is minimal. The retaining capacity is also strengthened because of travel; the student wouldn’t feel depressed.

Learning from home always offers a pleasant place to focus, as students can determine the best environment for themselves. Numerous digital tech companies have played a significant role in the change like google classroom, Zoom, Microsoft Teams.

Smart classrooms are produce teaching more straightforward and accessible by a student in close to real classroom like interaction. All competitive assessments are underway, and students can use the opportunity to practice towards themselves. This had a direct impact on the field of education.

E- learning also a wonderful opportunity for every academician and researcher to create their own OERs (Open Educational Recourses) which not only serves the purpose of students for education but also serves as a catalyst in enhancing professional self-image. Digital initiatives help every academician to see themselves as not only teachers but creators of knowledge.

GOOD EVENING DOME Faculty & Co Learners

I am here with submitting my response to Thread 1.2

I oppose E-Learning in Medical Education because of Following reasons:

1.E-Learning causes Social isolation of learner & learning requires strong self motivation by the learners as many times they can get distracted easily.

2. unlike offline mode there is no scope of learning Psychomotor skills hinders learners performance in real life situation

3.There is no face to face communication between trainer & learner & it is difficult to assess whether students learning outcomes achieved or not.

4.Students residing in rural areas , having less bandwidth internet places may face poor audio/Video quality during sessions.

5.Few students who are not good at computer knowledge face challenges in operating gadgets may not communicate/interact with teachers properly .

6.Accredation & quality assurance problem may arise for the online courses as they may not fulfill the criteria.

E- learning is the need of the hour in these COVID times. I Propose E-Learning for the following reasons.

1. E- learning is convenient and flexible, the students can attend these classes from place of their choice. If the classes are recorded, they can be watched at any time.

2. E- learning promotes active and independent learning

3. Through discussion boards and chats, the teacher are able to interact with everyone online and also clear your doubts if any.

4. In case of recorded videos , they can be rewound and seen and heard again and again, if the student does not happen to understand the topic at the first time.

5. Webinars can be conducted with renowned faculty from all over the world. In this case, it is cost-effective, a substantial amount can be saved on the travel and accommodation costs of both learners and instructors, as well as the venue and materials.

6. Online learning is scalable. It can be extended to as many students as required with many learners taking the course.

E- learning can only be a " supplement ' or ' complement' to traditional learning and cannot entirely substitute it.

Although during these COVID times it is the need of the hour to continue the ongoing syllabus and deadlines of the teaching programme there are several drawbacks which have been encountered

1. Lack of control : Poorly motivated learners tend to lag behind

2. May not appeal to all learning styles of the students esp. the ones who are kinesthetic learners who prefer doing tasks rather than just listening or reading words

3. It can isolate students and make them feel demotivated without support or reassurance from teachers or trainers

4. All learners should have devices which support the training module and several technical issues such as internet connectivity and general random faults are potential issues

5. Software's have to be user friendly and several students may find this daunting and demotivating

4. There is no face to face interaction and all online platforms may not provide the same. Hence it is difficult to really track the students attentivity and understanding capacity esp. in larger groups.

5.During the COVID times there is an inability of practical exposure to acquiring competencies in the skills domain and online demonstrations via video or other digital means cannot replace the real thing.

I support Dr. Julie on 'E-Learning can only be a supplement or complement to traditional learning'.

Every teacher has their own unique style of teaching which is developed over a period either through the rapport they build with the children or through observing their body language in class, their interaction with classmates. In E-Learning, teachers just see them on computer screens, sometimes even that's not feasible in poor internet connections, and/or with a lot of disturbances, which hinders the teaching-learning process.

Thus, e-learning can be a supplement and can't be the norm in medical education.

Madam, with due respect I, Dr.Pramod Rangasubhe, from group Bloom would like to dispute your views.

Madam as you agree that during these COVID times it is the need of the hour to continue the ongoing syllabus and deadlines of the teaching programme, I’ll give certain recommendations to rectify the drawbacks of e-learning as reported by you,

1. Motivating the students to learn is the quality of a teacher, so a good teacher will do it in any format of teaching-learning mode. Identifying such students and having one-to-one interaction with them can solve this issue.

2. Few techniques that E-Learning professionals can employ in order to make their E-Learning programs more kinesthetically inclined.

a. Develop a wide range of tactile activities

b. Focus on immersion and interactivity

c. Make it emotional

d. Cater to different kinesthetic learning styles

e. Use branching scenarios to boost retention

f. Create collaborative group projects

g. Allow them to explore through experimentation

3. Such students should be advised to make small groups among their batch-mates and discuss the topics. They should also be given freedom to contact the teacher anytime and discuss their issues.

4. As we are applying this method of teaching to Medical students I am quite sure that all will be having smart phones. Internet connectivity can be an issue in certain places, but they can visit nearby cybercafé centers for the same.

5. Teacher can take a feedback from students about the feasibility of E-Learning methods and can act accordingly. Various methods of E-Learning are available which are student friendly.

6. To check the students’ attention, Teacher can ask questions in live online class randomly. To know the students understanding pre-test and post-test can be conducted at the beginning and end of each class.

7. I do agree with you Madam that online demonstrations via video or other digital means cannot replace the real life thing, but it will definitely prepare him to understand the concepts to certain extent so that when this pandemic ends and when he comes across a patient this knowledge will definitely help him.

I agree with Julie mam that E-Learning can only be A "supplement" for learning methods. But due to the pandemic crises we need to continue for the sake of completion of vast syllabus. The drawbacks encountered are mainly-

1. Most of the students keep their videos off and so this raises real issue as Umesh sir pointed out that there may be no learning during that point. No monitoring can be done

2. Some platforms are time bound as they are free of cost, So we need to be more precise for that 4o min session especially for case based learning discussions.

3. No exposure for real time cases

4. Technical lapses can add on as a triggering factor.

5. Teachers or educators also need to be technically skilled to handle the issues arising from time to time.

6. This type of learning probably increases the chances of acquiring Lifestyle diseases due to sedentary nature.

7. No attention towards slow learners which is usually possible in face to face tutorials.

8. Environment of home may not be conducive for those having large family or small house with background disturbances

9. Students might feel isolated as there is no interaction with friends or teachers.

10. Rather than by just seeing or hearing , Everyone tends to perform better by practicing.

Dr Umesh Ramadurg from 2021 A Batch

E learning cannot be always a best option because of the following point

1. No self-discipline

Proponents of e-learning claim that its main advantage is that it is self-paced. Which is true. If you need to watch a video again, you can. If you want to take a break from the material, you can stop and come back to it when you are feeling refreshed.

However, because of this inherent freedom, "e-learning" often translates to "no learning". People may switch off from fully engaging in the material, and see the activity as a tick box exercise – just another item on an ever-growing "to do" list. In a self-paced environment, an e-learning task can undergo a gravitational pull to the bottom of the list, where it can languish for days, weeks, or even indefinitely. The fact is, many people find it much easier to internalise new skills and knowledge through active training sessions with other people, than through an impersonal e-learning module

No face-to-face interaction. While e-learning can be quite interactive these days, through the use of video conferences, webinars, and face-to-face video chat, it still isn't the same as sitting across the room from a real person. Simply put, there is no substitute for interacting with, and learning from, a fellow human.

2. Lack of flexibility

E-learning can be great for learning specific skills and for knowledge that needs to be transferred. However, with more complex skills and competencies, it is more difficult to put together an effective e-learning programme. And in a medicine ,these complex skills are often the most crucial.

It is these skills, which can only be discovered when you start thinking deeply and engaging in an activity or topic, that can make or break an organization. The best learning happens when students discover the solutions on their own – by asking questions and obtaining clarification – and with e-learning this is more difficult to achieve

3. Lack of input from trainers

E-learning is structured. When a programme is developed, it is based on what the course developers think is the right curriculum at the time. However, learning materials can become outdated – and may contain errors even from the beginning. The best trainers will sit and talk to people. They will engage with to to find out what they need to know, and how they need to learn it. Student feedback is highly valuable, but it's less possible with an e-learning course. Skilled trainers and subject matter experts are at their very best when they are being grilled by - and interacting with - their students. This interaction results in a better training process and better trainers. In e-learning, it's largely not present.

4. Lack of transformational power

It should be said that e-learning is effective for training process execution and for imparting certain kinds of knowledge. However, real learning – game changing learning – comes about through live connection with an experienced practitioner. It is through this engagement that a true transformation occurs and the learner becomes more effective as an individual, moving to their next level of performance. Such change is more difficult with e-learning.

1. Teacher and student eye contact and direct interaction will not there with the students.

2. Student do not show interest to attend online lectures because they will get material from online .

3. If the students get ready-made material from online, they lack interest in reading text books.

4. If students get material they will consider this as guide and they will read before exam only and they will not concentrate on daily studies.

5. There will be distractions and disturbances in e-learning. for example: network issues, electricity issues, lack of infrastructure, technology problems.

6. E-learning required trained faculty members.

7. E -learning lack of PEER Interaction.

8. Requires self discipline and motivation.

E learning can never be a norm in medical education

1. Medical education involves a lot of acquisition of psychomotor skills. To come out as a competent doctor one has to have a real world experience of learning by doing it. Virtual simulations can not be a substitute for hands on experience

2. Another important domain to be acquired in medical education is affective domain or the soft skills. One cannot empathize or have sympathy just by seeing emotional videos or virtual patients. Human interaction has immense value in teaching life's important lessons.

3. Most of us ( as medical educators & administrators) are not using effective e assessment methods. It is said ' assessment drives learning' and therefore since we are not assessing well, learners are not self motivated. Therefore e earning cannot be the norm

4. There are learners from rural/ semi urban backgrounds where suitable infrastructure ( laptops, smartphones, personal computers) and internet connectivity is lacking. Establishment of all these requires finance and lack of it, is a hindrance.

5. Lot of unlearning from the traditional teaching methods has to happen from the medical teachers, administrators and learners as well. Unlearning process is gradual and slow and therefore the new e-learning methods cannot be the norm

DRAWBACK OF E- LEARNING

1. In a study “Perspectives of Indian medical students on e-learning as a tool for medical education in the country: a quantitative study by Neel N. Lawande, Trusha D. Kenkre, Nuala A. Mendes, Lydia M. Dias, Amit S. Dias”, it states that 15.8% of the participant reported that they could concentrate through the whole class, while 60% of the respondents in this study could not concentrate beyond 30 minutes and felt it would be more effective if the duration of the classes was reduced. A study on concentration of medical students by Stuart and Rutherford showed similar results where student concentration rose sharply to reach a maximum in 10-15 minutes, and fell steadily thereafter. The study also stated that the optimum length of a lecture may be 30 minutes instead of 60 minutes.

2. Technical issues and lack of interaction were an important hurdle in the flow of the lecture, causing preference of offline classes with respect to better concentration. Decreasing the length of the lecture or providing breaks between the sessions; making offline videos of the live lecture available to all students and trying to make the sessions more interactive, as mentioned above, are solutions, in order to ensure better concentration of the students. Difficulty in operating the software through which online classes were held was a complaint reported by 22.1% of the students.

3. In the absence of proper support and maintenance of even the most current and sophisticated software, the ability of teachers and students to access and use technology is highly compromised.

4. Organising training workshops for students as well as teachers regularly, to improve their technological skills and be at par with updates in software is a solution. Also, usage of a single, safe and effective software by all medical institutions in India, would standardise the training programs which need to be given to students and teachers.

5. A common drawback identified by a majority of the participants (79%) was loss of connection during classes due to poor or unstable network availability and disruption in the flow of the lecture. This obstacle can be overcome by recording the lectures and providing them to the students through various social platforms. Another solution to this would be provision of alternate means of attending these lectures, for example through a ‘call in’ means for joining and attending classes in audio only mode. An innovative and effective solution would be development of e-learning software that function smoothly even at low bandwidths.

6. A recent survey by Uma V stated that 40% of the concerns about online education were related to unreliable connectivity, 30% cited the cost of data and 10% reported uncertainty in electrical supply.23 Only 28% of the students belonging to rural households had access to the internet at home. Such issues need to be worked on, to extend the reach of e-learning to rural population as well. The medical field calls for students to have a great deal of social soft skills in order to win the trust of patients and ace the art of medicine.

7. The lack of patient exposure and clinical cases creates a great void in medical learning, which seemed to be one major setback for e-learning, causing students to prefer the traditional method of classes.

8. The Negative Attitude of Students and teachers towards new technologies. Teachers had indicated that learning new techniques was challenging for them, especially when facing technical issues. This caused a general feeling of inadequacy. The study conducted in Pakistan by Abbasi et al reports the negative attitude towards e-learning and preferred face-to-face learning because of poor internet access and stability.

9. Challenges range from technical issues related to inadequate technical infrastructure and unreliable internet connectivity for smooth conduct of online teaching and learning. Need to make available accessible and dependable digital infrastructure and technical support at institution level.

10. Absence of institutional strategies to facilitate online teaching, recurring financial costs, pedagogical insecurity.

11. Insufficient preparedness of faculty in effective use of online teaching tools and LMSs, time constraints, lack of appropriate tools for clinical teaching, and lack of direct contact between teachers and learners.

12. There is need of training opportunities for medical educators in the use of available online teaching–learning modalities and pedagogical competence; and facilities and time for medical educators to structure and develop pedagogically sound online teaching and learning activities by aligning learning objectives, content, activities, and assessment while ensuring optimal virtual contact with learners.

13. Conclusion Online teaching, learning, and assessment in medical education are still relatively new; however, it has the potential to become mainstream in the near future.

14. It is no longer a matter of when this will pass. Now, it is about the challenge of adapting to the new normal; that is the virtual world, till we get back to physically being available in our educational institutions again.

Barrier – Skill deficit

Lack of skills, in particular technical skills, was found to be one of the barriers met by educators when engaging with the development and implementation of online learning [19]. Insufficient computer and typing skills [20] together with poor infrastructure can inhibit educator’s willingness or ability to engage with the development or delivery of online learning

Barrier - time

Medical educators are already under pressure to find sufficient time to manage teaching, research and maintain a work life balance personal life commitments .inadequate time to devote to the mastery, development and implementation of online learning tools can be seen as a significant barrier.

Barrier - infrastructure

In many instances, the lack of infrastructure and technology can be seen as a barrier in medical education. Limited access to computers and poor physical infrastructure, poor internet connectivity and Wi-Fi access.

Barrier –poor communication

The lack of institutional support and limited direction as to how tools or programs would be implemented, implementation is rarely successful.

I oppose E-learning as a mode of teaching

The few Barriers which makes E-learning difficult are:

1. Inadequate computer skills

2. Inadequate training on using LMS.

3. Lacking personal preference (negative attitude) to online learning.

4. Lacking self-discipline to e-learning

5. Poor motivation and expectation regarding e-learning .

6. Limited resources as weak internet connections.

7. The weak internet connection is a barrier or good quality of the exam.

8. Some disciplines or contents are not suitable for e-learning such as clinical teaching, which needs to be taught offline[hands on] only.

9. The cost of accessing the internet is a barrier.

10. Student - e-learning is constrained by limited options of face-to-face learning.

Disadvantages to e-learning is that some students for whom English is not their native language, have difficulty communicating and being understood.

Few group of students may experience computer or technology anxiety which may in turn impact their learning and their final grades.

High stakes, educators, and policy-makers should develop continuous training of the medical educators and students on virtual classes to improve their skills and acceptance. Good instructional designs of the e-learning courses, motivation, interaction and support are needed.

Debate regarding e-learning in medical education.

My Stand: I oppose!

The reasons that I chose to oppose e-learning are as follows,

1. Lack of personal touch

• The computer screen simply lacks the things that we perceive in human interaction.

• The body language, radiance of a smile, the twinkle in an eye, the subtle tone of the voice, all of these and more are lost in transmission.

2. Inability to do real-time monitoring

• It is impossible to monitor the students when their cameras are off. Even their presence is sometimes doubted when many don’t respond immediately.

3. Decreased two-way communication

• A simple answer is a minimum of three clicks away.

• Internet is seasonal in India and monsoon is on its way.

• Are you not tired of staring at the rotating (buffering) cursor?

4. What about clinical skills?

• How can you even imagine teaching clinical skills through gadgets?

• The feel of an abdominal mass, the hum of a heart murmur, the movement with respiration of the liver, can they be felt or taught online?

5. What about attitude, ethics & professionalism

• Many of us are molded by observing our professional role-models. The internet robs the students of this.

6. Is it fair?

• The most important question, is it fair on the students?

• Can they be evaluated in the same way that their seniors were evaluated?

• Can we expect the same proficiency from them as we did from their seniors?

Truthful answers to most of these questions will be my best defense.

How much ever we try to teach them on mannikins, everything is artificial creation which cannot be replace by real scenarios. Assessments cannot be conducted online.

Dr Prashanth Talikoti. Batch 2021A

My stand : Oppose E learning

1.Lack of students and teacher interaction

2.Lack of motivation in students to attend online class

3.Technological issue (faced now to join the createdebate)

4.Faculty and students should have minimum knowledge how to use computers and other-tools or gadgets

5.Lack of communication skill development in students

6. Social isolation

7. Lack of accreditation and quality assurance in online education

8. In medical education difficulty to teach the procedural skill

9.Health related issues .. like eye strain, bad posture

10.It may add up economic strain purchase of smartphone, laptop , earphone and internet

I strongly oppose E learning as the main tool of teaching or learning.

1.No motivation for teacher only.

As most of you are taking online classes now, how many are really motivated to teach. it will not create that feel and interest to teach when you are just infront of laptop without audience

2. No inputs from students

though there is a window for reacting, most of the students are not interested to react when we ask any questions unlike offline sessions where by seeing them we can ask about their inputs, which will be real

3. There is no scope for demonstrations and on hands training.

there is no real experience when it comes to examining a patient, howmuchever videos students watch, it can never match their tactile stimulation.

4. No teacher student relationship.

It is not only the teaching but the personality, body language and behaviour of the teacher which will infuence the peer gruop. Those will have a long term impact on students to build their career, which is happeneing at almost zero level in E learning.

5. Not all domains of education are touched in E learning

Medical education is again a school,in which student will learn variuos aspects apart from knowledge like, building relation with teachers, patients,co learners, descipline, counselling and communicating skills, reacting in a empathetic way. which v=can not be learnt in e learning

I end my debate by saying,E learning can be a part of medical education but CAN NEVER replace the off line learning system.

I strongly oppose E-learning due to following reasons:

1. Can cause social isolation 2. More theoretical & less practical 3. Lacks face to face communication 4. lack of accreditation and quality assurance. 5. Lack of Communication skill development 6. Lack of inputs from trainers 7. Technical issues 8. Low -self discipline. 9. Low motivation 10. Distractions will be more.

I oppose the view of E-Learning becoming the educational norm in COVID times.

E-learning has proliferated society during the COVID pandemic. Although it has some benefits, there are many risks, particularly for children.

Excessive exposure to technology use can negatively impact the physical, mental, emotional, and social health of children. This can result in pathological behaviors such as technology addiction.

There is a need to increase awareness of issues that may occur with e-learning among children and teens.

Dr.Rachel 2021 A Oppose

I would like to bring few points to support my opposition to E-Learning, as I strongly oppose E-Learning

1.Lack Practical Training & Assessment

Students lack the skill development in the practical sessions and as facilitators it would be difficult to assess them.

William Harvey quoted

“I profess to learn and to teach anatomy not from books but from dissections, not from the tenets of Philosophers but from the fabric of Nature.”

If the learners cannot perform practicals they cant become skilled and assessing them will be just for namesake and it becomes injustice to the learners.

2. Platform for unfaithfulness

The students actually are preferring the online classes where video is unable.

this itself shows the unfaithfulness of them.

Cheating becomes habituated to them if the E-Learning goes on for a longer duration

3. Network Issues

One more yet the most important disadvantage of the E-learning.

The students stay in urban areas, sub-urban areas and rural areas.

The network in rural areas is very weak and the learners cant attend the classes regularly.

4. Finances

All are not at the same at their socio-economical status. This is the factor which will allow a student with knowledge but due to lack of facilities because of their financial status may not get all the benefits by E-Learning.

5. Teacher Student Bonding

The Facilitator helps the learner by encouraging in the academics and also by giving emotional support. this bonding is important for academically and emotionally weak students, but because of E-Learning the bonding doesn't even develop.

6. Eye to Eye Contact

"Education is not Filling a Pot but Lighting of Fire" - W.B.Yeats

E-learning helps to fill the mind but it doesn't make the learner to get that enthusiasm when taught through an eye to eye contact lectures/practicals/bed side teaching. This creates the Lacuna of Bonding between teacher and student.

7. Lack of Student Community.

After a very long lectures and 2 hours long dissection, learners want to take a break and relax for a time, this increases bonding between their peers, seniors making them a student community, which helps to decrease their stress.

But.... as there is no student community no interaction between them as they are isolated and no communication develops.

8. Distraction

As we are in COVID times.......

Many of the families shifted from urban to rural areas..

Now the families are loaded with members of all ages....

The Distraction Factor can come from anyone parents, siblings, sibling's kids, friends of other branches...list goes on, and the learner can't give his total concentration on the E-Learning.

9. Social Isolation

This factor is for those students who are over enthusiastic.

The E-Learning methods currently practiced in education tend to make participating students undergo contemplation, remoteness and a lack of interaction. As a result, many of the students and teachers who inevitably spend much of their time online can start experiencing signs of social isolation, due to the lack of human communication in their lives.

10. Discipline

If you can learn anytime and anywhere, it is so easy to procrastinate (Postpone).

Though the lectures are going Online there is a option for recording the program, this creates a subconscious desire to neglect the live class and listen to the recorded classes... which decreases the Discipline, enthusiasm in a student.

11.Non-Verbal Communication

In a Traditional Lecture class we ask questions randomly and one of the students when answers the correct answer, our facial expressions our thumbs up and our applause count a lot to the students which totally lack in E-learning.

12. Risk of losing classroom structure in online classroom

The class room of 100 -150 is the biggest platform where the bonding roots between teacher and student develops. The discussions between the peers will suddenly shuts as the teacher enters... but now through E-Learning as the students always off their videos we don't know what are they doing.

I Dr.T.Sumalatha 2020B batch oppose the E-learning due to following reasons:

1.Students and Faculty need to be technically updated which involves lot of time ,effort and expenses.

2.No face-face interaction leads to lack of interest among students towards the academics.

3.Difficult to assess the student attention during the classes.

4.Internet facility is not proper in remote locations.

5.There is chance of getting health issues like Depression,Headache,Neck pain etc.due to overuse of smart phones during long academic sessions.

7.Assessment at the end of the course may not be complete in online due to chance of academic dishonesty among students.

8.It is difficult to collect individual feedback from students.

9.it is difficult to teach practical aspects like cadaver dissection, Clinical examination of patients.

10.Teacher-student and inter student relationships are poorly developed

I, Dr. Anjani from 2020 B batch member of Group Webb “For Oppose” hereby submit my response. I would like to congratulate Dr. Rizwana B Shaik madam on being selected as group leader.

The challenges of E-Learning could be broadly categorised into those faced by the students, the faculty and institution.

Potential challenges for students:

• Familiarity of learning in a digital environment

• Ability to adapt to the change from traditional teaching platforms to digital platform

• Not all students are adept at handling e-learning platforms

• Access to internet – bandwidth and connectivity issues

• Availability of infrastructure

• Learning styles of students varies from one to another

• Limited scope to personalise the teaching learning methods especially for large group teaching

• Ability to identify reliable and authentic sources of information

• Internal motivation and commitment

Potential challenges for faculty:

• Hesitation to accept and implement unfamiliar practices

• Lack of skills/awareness

• Availability of resources such as equipment, space and financial support for the above

• Availability of a sound broadband network that provides internet constantly and at a good speed

• Availability of technical support

• It is challenging to identify students who require more attention

• Interaction, especially with a large group is challenging

• Lack of face to face interaction

• Planning and commitment is required for the teaching learning sessions

• Possibility of malpractices for assignments

• Support from institution/ administration

Potential challenges for administration

• Provision of required resources

• Financial requirement for infrastructure, technical support, software and internet access.

• Conducting training /sensitisation programmes for faculty and students

Respected faculty and Co- learners,

I am submitting my response to THREAD1.2E-LearningNeed for E-learning in Medical Education24th TO 26th MAY 2021 as Dr. Ayesha Begum 2020B Batch Oppose

We all accept the fact that all of us and more importantly our students have started e – learning. Now it is time for us to facilitate the students properly and blend it with traditional learning.

It is always better to know the disadvantages of the system and try to work on the challenges and plan it properly before making it a part of curriculum.

We should think beyond the pandemic in making such decisions.

The disadvantages of e-learning include the following:

1. E-learning as a method of education makes the learners undergo contemplation, remoteness, as well as lack of interaction or relation.

2. It therefore requires a very strong inspiration as well as skills with to the management of time in order to reduce such effects.

3. With respect to clarifications, offer of explanations, as well as interpretations, the e-learning method might be less effective that the traditional method of learning. The learning process is much easier with the use of the face to face encounter with the instructors or teachers.

4. When it comes to improvement in communication skills of learners, e-learning as a method might have a negative effect. Though might have an excellent knowledge in academics, they may not possess the needed skills to deliver their acquired knowledge to others.

5. Since tests for assessments in e-learning are possibly done with the use of proxy, it will be difficult, if not impossible to control or regulate bad activities like cheating.

6. E-learning may also probably be misled to piracy and plagiarism, predisposed by inadequate selection skills, as well as the ease of copy and paste.

7. Also not all fields or discipline can employ the e-learning technique in education. For instance the purely scientific fields that include practical cannot be properly studies through e-learning. This all of us have faced while teaching during this pandemic.

8. E-learning is more appropriate in social science and humanities than the fields such as medical science and pharmacy, where there is the need to develop practical skills.

9. E-learning may also lead to congestion or heavy use of some websites. This may bring about unanticipated costs both in time and money.

Respected faculty and co-learners,

I congratulate Dr Rizwana B Shaik mam for being selected as the group leader for group Webb

Dr Vasavi Patra2020 B Oppose

I hereby oppose E-learning due to the following

1. Absence of vital personal face to face interaction not only between learners and instructor but also among the colleague learners

2. Needs a lot of inspiration and self-discipline to get motivated

3. Health problems may arise like strain on eyes.

4. Inability to access technology – requires training

5. Cost involvement

6. Poor internet connection

7. Not suitable to teach clinical skills

8. It is difficult to control cheating during assessments in E-learning and also mislead to piracy and plagiarism

9. E-learning can not improve communication skills among the learners though they might have excellent knowledge in academics

Dr Vasudha CL2020 B BATCHOPPOSE_Group Webb

congratulations to dr Rizwana for being the group leader.

I would like to oppose the motion "E-Learning: educational norm in COVID times".

Yes the pandemic has made all of us take the online path for teaching as well as learning. But how well is it being received by the students remains a burning question. The disadvantages of

e-learning are:-

1. No face to face interaction with the students. Even if it is provided in a virtual environment the effectiveness is questionable.

2. Infrastructure requirements are not adequate in most of the institutes.

3. Technical glitches creates disturbance and disinterest.

4. In medical education system, we need the students to become a physician of first contact who is competent in knowledge, skills attitude and communication, The skill component will take a major blow with e-learning.

5. The examination or e-assessment part, still needs a lot of preparation and is in early stages, the implementation of the same has many barriers.

6. Sudden shift to online teaching has become a greatest challenge to the faculty accustomed to traditional methods, who have no formal training to these new modes of teaching.

7. Not many faculty development programs undertaken for overcoming the above challenge.

8. More burden on the faculty to devise newer interactive teaching/learning sessions in a virtual environment.

9. The effectiveness of such a session is gauged only by taking feedbacks which are sometimes not genuine.

10. Virtual web appointments or clinics cannot replace direct physical/clinical examination in a OPD setting.

Lastly, Yes, we are in the age of artificial intelligence, robotic surgeries, but lets not forget that the great minds and the hands that created them cannot be replaced by a machine.

Respected faculty & my dear co-learners,

I, Dr Rohit Dixit, ACME, 2019A Batch, would like to respond to the debate and oppose the e-learning.

One of the biggest problem with e-learning, especially online classes is that the teacher cannot monitor.. the students can just join the class and not listen to the class at all. Also the next important problem is though there is a scope for interaction, teacher and learner hardly involve in that. Next major problem is technical glitches.

So to summarise, Monitoring, Interaction and technical glitches are the major coms/problems of e-learning.
